I was very depressed since October till few weeks ago and that's why I wasn't around forums lately. And when I thought I was over my depression, I got into new fight with my parents. Everything started from simple misunderstanding but dad was in bad mood for past few days, so our argument evolved quickly. And then mom got involved. So now I'm back to low spirits. There's also a person who made me feel depressed in the first place. I wrote about her back in autumn. Long story short: she's my groupmate in university and a person I considered a close friend until she suddenly started ignoring me completely. But lately she's been acting friendly towards me. Appearently she feels betrayed by our other groupmate who left her to work on German language project alone (and keeps changing her mind about various things a lot). And I'm supposed to be cool with fact that she got me seriously depressed for unknown reasons? It may be that other girl had told her something about me but that still doesn't make me feel any better. I would love to clear things out but on the other hand I don't feel like getting into any arguments with either of them. We still have 3 years left until graduation. And then there's my friend's attempted suicide. She says that she's always depressed and I want to help her as much as I can because she's wonderful person but me being more of loner type I don't really know how to help her out. :(

While trying to get financially set and switch over my car insurance and reg, (my insurance is in my ex's name, though my car is in mine) I got nailed with another speeding ticket. I lived in Florida for seven years, got pulled over once, and didn't even get a ticket, and now twice in a span of six weeks. First ticket was $300 and this one is $90. I got the second one last week, but only just posting about it now because on top of that, the collections agency that is handling my old student loan is dragging their feet stopping the garnishments on my paychecks. Now that they have automated payments set up (meaning they have my bank account information) I can't get in touch with my rep. She was supposed to send the stop notice to my payroll manager last week, and never did. So I'm going to be shorted some $120 on my check tomorrow. Really frustrated. I know I put out some bad karma vibes lately, but come on. I didn't act on any of my negative thoughts, cut me a little slack. I'm human, I can't stop every single stray bad thought that comes into my head.

:/ that does suck, Okami. I hope everything fixes itself - I know how annoying loan agencies can be! And the tickets are just annoying too, since they just add on to everything.

(sorry I never got in contact with you last week - it kind of got away from me with everything.)

Ugh, can I just say that I can't wait for this semester to be over? I cannot deal with it anymore. And I need to find jobs, both for the summer and for next year. Hopefully the latter's not hard, but I'm stuck on tenderhooks waiting for my district to release their available positions. If I don't hear anything by May I'm going to start applying like crazy everywhere else. The former is ridiculous, because most are over an hour away in Springfield-area (western Mass; I live about a half hour from Boston), and they start just before the 4th of July instead of the week after like I'm used to, and I'm going to be away until the 6th. I just can't go two months without being paid.

Okami, are you able to talk to anyone live at the collection agency? Collection agencies are required to follow the Fair Collection Act and can be sued if they don't. So if you can, at least inform whoever you get on the phone that the garnishments need to stop - now - or you'll seek legal advise (as nice, but firm, as you can). If you can't get a live person on the phone - seek legal advise. Most lawyers will do a free first consultation and let you know what you can do before even going through the court system. You have to keep up on collection agencies; too many of them have seriously questionable business practices. And they get away with it because people are too embarrassed and frightened to even think about talking to a lawyer.

I had a direct line for my rep, but she hasn't been answering. I'll have to try the place directly, although I may have panicked too soon. I got my pay stub, (I have direct deposit) and the garnishment was listed, but it was not taken out. I'm scratching my head a little, as my payroll manager said she had not gotten the letter from the collections agency. I mean, the amount of hassle for a loan that was originally less than $2,000... The thing that burns me the most is that I was making payments on it a few years back, and they were taken directly from my account. But then one month, they just.... stopped taking payments out. No explanation was given, I never received any sort of communication from the agency, and so I, in my naivety, assumed I had finished paying it off. Secretly, I knew there was no way, but I was 19, struggling financially, and still fumbling my way around being an adult. I wasn't going to hunt them down to take my money! Then I filed taxes this year, and they took my whole return. I had to make a good six phone calls and play several rounds of tag before I finally got a hold of the particular representative for my loan, and I was enrolled in their loan rehabilitation program. Nine consecutive payments and they take the loan out of default and sell it to another lender, and it's wiped completely off my credit history as having ever gone into default in the first place. Now considering that, and my car payment (which I haven't missed a payment on since I got the car, almost a year ago now) are the only things on my credit report, my score should increase, hopefully. I'm just going to keep trying to contact my rep to make SURE everything is sorted out with the garnishment. No more leaving things up in the air.

This responsible adult thing really does kinda suck sometimes.

As if things haven't been stressful enough recently, one of our cats, our 16 year old Amanda, became very ill a week ago and left us last night. Mark and I are both heartbroken- she was the least outgoing of the household but the most amiable, and it will be a while before we stop missing our morning nose-bump and sweet purr.
The first time we met she was a tiny handful of fur who, when placed on my shoulder, proceeded to daintily bite my earlobe and then settle down to introducing herself.

Amanda and her litter sister, Sarah Jane. You couldn't have two more dissimilar cats- SJ is assertive and as 'I am the Queen, don't you forget it!' as Amanda was quiet.

Goodbye, my girl. Thank you for being 'my cat' all these years.
