I had a direct line for my rep, but she hasn't been answering. I'll have to try the place directly, although I may have panicked too soon. I got my pay stub, (I have direct deposit) and the garnishment was listed, but it was not taken out. I'm scratching my head a little, as my payroll manager said she had not gotten the letter from the collections agency. I mean, the amount of hassle for a loan that was originally less than $2,000... The thing that burns me the most is that I was making payments on it a few years back, and they were taken directly from my account. But then one month, they just.... stopped taking payments out. No explanation was given, I never received any sort of communication from the agency, and so I, in my naivety, assumed I had finished paying it off. Secretly, I knew there was no way, but I was 19, struggling financially, and still fumbling my way around being an adult. I wasn't going to hunt them down to take my money! Then I filed taxes this year, and they took my whole return. I had to make a good six phone calls and play several rounds of tag before I finally got a hold of the particular representative for my loan, and I was enrolled in their loan rehabilitation program. Nine consecutive payments and they take the loan out of default and sell it to another lender, and it's wiped completely off my credit history as having ever gone into default in the first place. Now considering that, and my car payment (which I haven't missed a payment on since I got the car, almost a year ago now) are the only things on my credit report, my score should increase, hopefully. I'm just going to keep trying to contact my rep to make SURE everything is sorted out with the garnishment. No more leaving things up in the air.
This responsible adult thing really does kinda suck sometimes.
Too many dollies to list. Check my profile if you wanna know who's who!
