Argh and now of course I feel horribly guilty, I save up for these damnably expensive dolls don't I? But those are budgeted for and any unexpected cost could mean bad things... I now feel bad about the cheap trousers that I bought (direly needed since my old pair are threadbare) and now feel inexplicably guilty that I didn't want to set up a near-empty account for a direct debit that I know will only increase monthly...

This sounds way more like "phishing" to get your account number. I would NOT trust anyone who tried this method of raising money for charity to actually be doing so. And accosting students is not OK. Nor is saying he'll go to your bank with you! I agree with DollyKim, toy drives are good. So is donating to the local food shelf. And don't feel guilty about the dolls. They are entertainment budget. On a per day basis, they are actually pretty cheap entertainment at that! It's just that they are a large up front cost and not a little by little cost like movies and other types of entertainments. If he accosts you again - or even if he doesn't - report him to campus security. There is probably a restriction on this behavior anyway.

I'm trying to just keep calm and help Ryan deal with it. I know he's taking her to the doctor on Friday and they'll figure out just what the course of action is then.
