This sounds way more like "phishing" to get your account number. I would NOT trust anyone who tried this method of raising money for charity to actually be doing so. And accosting students is not OK. Nor is saying he'll go to your bank with you! I agree with DollyKim, toy drives are good. So is donating to the local food shelf. And don't feel guilty about the dolls. They are entertainment budget. On a per day basis, they are actually pretty cheap entertainment at that! It's just that they are a large up front cost and not a little by little cost like movies and other types of entertainments. If he accosts you again - or even if he doesn't - report him to campus security. There is probably a restriction on this behavior anyway.

Keep up your spirits, it's really survivable now. Especially with early detection. HUGS! And hopefully she'll be ok and so will your boyfriend.

Edit: Ok, didn't read Misty's post - YEP! Do what she says!! Bet the local police would be very interested in this!

Thanks again - I've let them know the "charity" collectors were a bit aggressive, but tbh he wasn't on university property and the police can only really check their licence and give them slaps on the wrist. He had all of the official stuff he was just acting outside of his remit

Mirrin: I'm sorry to hear that, I hope it all works out ok - if it helps to know, with treatment advances and screening breast cancer is statistically one that's got an excellent recovery rate.

It doesn't just happen to young people - my mom called me this afternoon to ask what I thought about an arrangement for paying off her debt with a company she talked to where they'd take nearly $200 monthly and pay off her debt in 36 months. Well, with just a couple of questions, I realized she had been scammed. She gave some guy with an unknown company all of her account numbers and information - including her social security number! The only good thing is that he didn't ask for her bank information so he didn't get that! I checked both of the phone numbers she had for this "company" and MrNumber.com has a slew of comments that they are scammers. Great ... I know my mom is elderly and her credit is crappy because of the expense of my step-dad's long term illness before his death, but that doesn't mean her identity can't still be used by crooks!

So tomorrow she's calling all three credit reporting agencies and getting fraud alerts placed on them. And I have a call in to our estate attorney who has helped me with a previous issue for my mom.

This is why I really believe my mom needs to move up here with us.... She's always be a very smart, very suspicious lady who wouldn't get taken for anything. Since my dad's death (nearing 2 years now) she's kind of falling apart mentally, emotionally and financially .... /sigh

Thank you all for the kind words. I know that it's a lot different than it was 16 years ago when my grandmother passed away after battling it. It's just very frightening to me still. I'm trying to just keep calm and help Ryan deal with it. I know he's taking her to the doctor on Friday and they'll figure out just what the course of action is then.
