Thank you everyone for your replies! I really appreciate the time you've all taken to write all this out!

Saving up vs. spending now... 'Tis a battle between probable future gratification vs. instant satisfaction... I am not entirely sure which would make me happier in the end.

How do you decide when to buy something, and you think you should abstain?
I try to balance out a few things and ask myself the following questions:
"How much do I want this?"
"Is this item limited aka do I need to a make decision right now"
"Is my desire for this item likely to fade quickly?"
"What doll is this for?" I try to stick to my existing dolls rather than planned dolls when buying things because plans change.
Hmm... "Quite a bit", "I have time to consider this", "Probably not", "I only buy things for my existing dolls anyway, lol." Maybe I'll try holding out for a few weeks and see if I still want the items. That would probably tell me if I really want them or not.

I also have set limits on my 'free spending' money, I have a different storage system for money I can waste away as I please and money I'm keeping for life's essentials, but what I'm debating between is spending that money now or holding out in case something better comes along (essentially).

That about sums up how I end up buying most of my doll stuff.
I'll try not to follow that example Lamia.
