Boom after much fiddling with an impossibly positioned screw (ended up using a ratchet screwdriver ugh I think I might just glue that particular piece back rather than rescrew it...) all of the removable large chromed parts have been successfully separated from the body of the Bratz radio/car thingy. There's a few smaller bits that have been clicked and then melted into place... So I'm going to have to experiment with sealers for those parts. But the fenders and windscreen and interiors are all separate! So should be safe!
It's going to be resprayed from it's current purply-blue sparkly colour into a bright "Italian Red" and the interior is going to become cream with tacky brown bits around the dashboard. Hopefully it will end up looking reminiscent of this beauty:
http://www.chevroletpedia.org/2009/05/1 ... vy-impala/ Predictably none of the electronics worked (I checked) so I've gutted what can reasonably be removed. Wow the level of detailing on what is essentially a dolls accessory... The wheels are front wheel drive, the gear stick has various positions, and the radio functions are controlled by the car's tiny stereo... There were rubber mats in the footwells and the seats have removable upholstery O.o
The only bit I'm really worried about spraypaint-wise is the wheels - they are pretty solidly attached to the metal axels with no visible way to remove them. I think lots and lots of masking tape will need to wrapped around them.
And excellent bonus - the 1/6 guys on the Hot Toys bodies will happily sit in the car if you remove their feet, which luckily is intentionally very easy!
