On bicycles I'd be there with the trike because of my balance too. I'd have one if they didn't scream "steal me" by everyone for 500 miles around me.

As for The 8th Doctor it's already argued there's 3 different ones because of the Time War. One of them becomes the Moffatverse which we see here on TV and other "official" things, and in at least one of them 8 comes back to earth, hooks up with three musical "brothers", and has a clothing allergy. Either way The Hanging Gale has to fit in to 8's history somewhere.

*Then again when did 8 and "cannon" ever meet?

Our country is very bicycle-minded, hehe. My American friends who visited last Summer couldn't stop taking pictures at the enormous amounts of bikes parked everywhere

In general I don't think bikes are quite as popular in America, but it really depends on the region. Some areas are better for it, and some cities build with it in mind, but others don't. My region has very steep hills and most towns and cities around here don't have the safest of roads for it.

That said, most kids still learn even if they don't keep it up as adults. My mom says she can't understand me or my brother. It took him many months to get a hold of how to ride, and I gave up. When my mom was little my grandfather put her on a bike, gave it a push, and off she went without even so much as training wheels. Obviously neither of us inherited her balance!

At least I'm not the only one!

Get a recumbent trike - they are seriously great fun!

Cool, yes, but once I gathered enough money for one I'd think of some doll I'd want instead!

Kids here nowadays usually get a bike without peddles (spelling?) at the age of 3, so they learn how to keep their balance. It's only a small step after that to a normal bicycle. In my childhood we used to get a tricycle before a regular bike, and yeah it teaches you to use the peddle (paddle? I really should have googled that but I'm lazy right now) mechanism, it doesn't teach you how to keep your balance. I really prefer the current order of learning things :). My 3-year old niece has a paddle-less bike but she refuses to ride it. She's such a wuss :D.

That's actually a pretty neat idea! maybe that's what I need!
Pedal would be the correct word, at least where I am!

After hearing for YEARS about Dr. Who this and Dr. Who that, I FINALLY got around to sitting down and watching the second series on Netflix.

And yes. Now I am completely addicted, thank you very much. I watched two seasons in three days and all I have to say is HOW COULD THEY DO THAT TO THE DOCTOR AND ROSE AND HOW COULD THEY MAKE HIM DISAPPEAR BEFORE HE COULD TELL HER?!   And was that comical ending supposed to make it BETTER? It just made me snort laughter in the middle of my sobs! *pantpantwheeze*

Okay. I feel better now.

*scurries off to start on season three*

I have a bicycle but the gears are busted. ha! There's nowhere to ride a bike around here, well, not outside the immediate neighborhood. It's easier to go on horseback (offroad) than it is a bike.

I didn't have my first bike until I was around 10 so except for a couple years in high school where biking was my easiest means of transportation, I've never been much of a bike rider. My daughter grew up on a hill and one knee scraping spill in the driveway (also at an angle) on her little kid bike with training wheels was enough to make her less than eager to learn, unfortunately.

We should give it a try again, though. Our new neighborhood is relatively flat and biking is great exercise.

@Evelien you're close, the spelling is pedal for the thing and the action of pedaling a bicycle, paddle is the thing and paddling for the action with a small boat. You're stil doing better than most American kids.

The only 10 story I've seen is the Next Doctor. I keep forgetting to look for the DVDs when I have that kind of money and I'd like to see them, or at least the episodes to the story arc, in order. As for suffering characters it's an age old story telling gimmick. No drama no story.
