I don't know what it's like in the USA but here in the Netherlands you get a housing allowance from the government/IRS if you're in a rental home and don't have a very high income. Last year my boyfriend and I could make €29,900 together to get this allowance money. I knew I'd have to pay back everything if I'd make more money than that, so I calculated how much money I would make if I would be working fulltime all year, and it was about the max amount we could make. So, I thought, I'd never be able to make more money than that, seeing as I don't have a steady income as a temp and I don't get paid during Summer break... but I somehow made that much money after all (I think it was about €30,600 even), I don't know how I did it... and now I have to pay back the housing allowance, and oh yeah, plus my care allowance... which, together, is that much money.

It's my own mistake, I never thought I'd make that much money and I found out too late that I did, but it's still meh

It got really quiet here after I explained. I suppose you all think it's my own fault and it is. I know it is. I just never ever thought I'd get paid that much. I calculated everything before the year started and thought I was safe.

I want to thank everyone who replied for their support. I'm still deciding which dolls to sell. It ain't easy

I don't think it's your fault. I think it's kinda crappy they are making you pay that much especially since you were under 1,000 in difference =/ they should have a warning or margin of error for this kind of thing, especially if they are gonna tell you to cough up a crap load of money in a short period of time.
I hope you don't have to sell your dolls, but if you do maybe you can find people to "rent" them from you or something? that way you can get them back ?
