Tinies, retro style

Postby Eseme » Sat Sep 04, 2010 9:13 am

I think this is the right forum - they are definitely not 1/6!

Get ready for a blast from the past!

Aren't they so cute? I found these guys at a toy fair, in bad need of cleaning. I had given away my childhood Strawberry Shortcakes (all three of them), and was happy to find these guys. They are all the same height - the group shot has a wacky angle to keep the faces well lit.

I did keep something from my childhood toys though - the basket, cat, sleeping bag, pillow, nightgown, and party dress that my mom made my first childhood dolls (whom I now think was a knockoff). I am quite sure that she found the doll at a garage sale, naked. She made a pet - she knew it should be a pin cat with white spots, and I think she had seen the "sleeper" dolls in the store because she made a strawberry sleeping bag, pillow, and a little blanket.

Moms rock.

I am very sorry for all the red! The fabric is very, very red…

The dolls are cute, but the items made by your Mom are wonderful. I particularly love the basket.

Thanks! Having a quilter for a mom was great. All my dolls had homemade clothes (and usually store-bought ones too). These ones somehow survived childhood, and I really treasure them.

I am pretty sure I got my first Strawberry Shortcake on Easter, as she was in the basket and my sister's was in an identical basket.

Oh, so that's what he's called! Thanks!

He was one of those toys I had when I was a kid, probably found by my mom at a garage sale, and I had no idea what he's was.

Cool! I had the Strawberry house/pie factory thingy and several of the dolls. Blueberry Muffin was my favorite out of the group. I wonder why. :p
