A reusable core for polymer clay bodies!

Image
It has one of those wooden doll knob things inside, the wooden ball at the bottom, and there's a hole across the top for the arms.

Image
Wrap the core in foil, apply skin, score along the sides, bake, split and remove skin, stick together with clay and bake again disguising it as a shirt seam. The tummy ball is on the bottom so he can bend and look like his shirt is still tucked in.

Well on my way to getting something that looks like the costume on the right:

My sleeves are a little different, but the entire thing should be recognizable enough. In other words, I don't want to make a 5th corset, and screw the violet details. ^.~

Final fitting for my Learned Ladies dress I've been working on at 9am tomorrow.
I'll share some pictures after I get done what I have to later today.

I'm sitting here waiting on Tonner's X-23 to fully dry. I'm hoping she stays okay this time. Last time I tried to paint her I just wasn't impressed with the results. The humidity messed up her paint job. I had a hard time of it this time too. My roommates kept interrupting and so did the cat. Plus the heat is on and even with a squirt gun I can hardly keep the paint from getting too dry to work with. It's usually one or the other, high heat and high humidity or cool weather and the heat has to be on so it's dry as a desert in here. It's almost impossible to work with paint here either way. She's not looking bad but her top eyelashes aren't as good as I'd like them to be. I always have that trouble trying to give Tonner girls wispy uppers though. They such shallow eye sockets compared to say a Gene. I've seen people put lashes on them but I don't know how they manage it. I can barely paint lashes on Tonner's dolls let alone apply them right.

I'm done with her. I'm not going on another re-painting odyssey like I did with Damia. She's not quite as I envisioned her but I like her as she is. She sort of looks like a green eyed Elizabeth Taylor. She's definitely got more T&A than any doll I've ever owned. She's a complete bombshell, this girl. Put her in something clingy and my Tonner guys are not going to know where to look, laugh. She seems to have a very quiet personality thus far though. Her demeanor is a lot more shy than her looks.

I may have to make her some clothes though. I have serious doubts that much will fit her that's already in the doll closet. Likely I'll have to whip something up. Find her a soft, fuzzy sock and make her a sexy sweater dress. Might as well show off those curves I guess since she has them. I'm beginning to get why the large bust thing is so liked in terms of BJD's now though. All my girls they have a small or medium bust, not like me. This doll she's built like I am and I kind of like that, having a doll who looks like she actually eats a donut once in a while...

My husband calls my fingerless mitts "kitty paws", so I am making some black with sequins fingerless mitts to wear with my black kitty ears for Akon-the first one is half finished. I found the pewrfect fabric for Cordie's Easter dress; it's ivory with lavender flowers that almost match my dress.

I'm sick as a dog, but I got the fitting done.
The plan is to have the dress finished by Thursday.

That's wayyyyy not me!!! I am just a little petite thing, and while the woman playing Armande in Learned Ladies is lovely and we're pretty good friends, she's not me.
I am sewing a dress for the play and she is the actor in it that this dress is for.

I always feel jealous looking in here! There are so many talented people on this forum!

Personally, I haven't started yet, but my friend gave me some thin yarn and little knitting needles for a late Christmas present and has promised to show me how to knit. She said if nothing else, I could make scarves for my dolls. With three balls of yarn I hopefully will learn more than just scarves, or my dolls with have very very warm necks.
Hopefully I can get started on something this weekend!

She also got me a humongous book showing everything you need to know about sewing. So, perhaps in the future I can throw something partially interesting looking up here.
