Travel doll idea?

Postby DollyKim » Thu Sep 09, 2010 9:20 am

How about doing a travel doll where part of having the doll visit includes it visiting areas of interest around you. The doll could keep a blog and post pictures of it's adventures.

It could be fun to schedule times where the doll could join you on a trip, might be able to do some hand-offs that way, or be at your place if there's a parade or something. Part of my motive is that I have a Disneyland pass I could take the doll there, someone else could take it to their local theme park or attraction. A sort of Chatty Cathy Sees America thing. I'd love to be able to send it to Australia for a visit down there too.

Afterwards we could think about auctioning the doll and a photo book for a charity that gives toys to needy children.

Any idea what kind of doll? Guy or girl? I'm sensing something that can get a face-up, definitely 1/6 scale.

This is a fantastic idea! Reminds me a lot of when we did Flat Stanleys in elementary school. You could definitely add me to any such list, though I'm not sure my current location has anything too exciting around it.

A unique landmark perhaps?

Even if it's meeting your dolls and hanging out with them it works.

So the first question could be do we want a boy or a girl?

Assuming we're doing an Obitsu, I'd suggest a 27cm girl, just because they're easiest to find stuff for, as well as being least expensive.

Doesn't have to be an Obitsu, this could be a Dollieh Sanctuary swap so any brand could do as long as it would stand up to the travel.

Does anyone have a spare doll or spare parts we could assemble a doll from? I have a Blythe head that isn't doing anything and some Barbie bodies.
