LOL... "stupid dolls." You've come to the right place. We're a sanctuary for all Doll collectors who have nowhere else to go. We're a welcoming community. I'm glad you've found us.

Hi and welcome to Dollieh Sanctuary! For trying to 'justify' the hobby, you can highlight what you can do and what drew you to it in the first place. So you might bring up the customization angle and your plans for your doll. Not everyone will be accepting, but hopefully with a bit of explaination, your partner and family will understand that this doll will bring you joy and that's all that matters.

As for Fairyland, the dolls are very poseable. I've never bought anything from them, so I can't say what the customer service is like. As for customs fees, I feel your pain. We've got bad custom fees in Canada for merchandise coming over any border if it's worth close to 100$. >.>

Welcome!!

Fairyland Minifees are wonderful. I own a Shushu and I have my Unoa Sist on a mInifee body too. Great choice for a first doll, BUT you'll be disappointed with other brands' posability after getting used to her first hehe!

I used to get crap from my family too and I'd get all insecure and defensive, pretty much confirming their statement that my hobby was something to be ashamed about... Until I decided not to do that anymore. I made a statement by posting One of my dolls on Facebook for everyone to see. From that moment on I'd get compliments instead of nagging, and I firmly believe it's because I suddenly showed confidence about my hobby.

Thanks all for such a warm welcome. I am still not backing down, even changed my PC background to a bjd picture- now every time someone uses the pc they get face full of doll. I am looking forward to tomorrow as I plan to place my order with fairyland. Already picked out a name, cant decide between May and Mayu.

Welcome to the forum!

Don't worry, we're all Doll People here, so we understand ^__^
I have so many dolls that I can't fit all their names in my signature anymore. @__@
