Hi everyone!

I am watercolour artist, belly dancer that makes my own outfits and a collector of many different things. While messing about on the internet I came across videos and pictures of ball jointed dolls and fell in love with them. Up until now all I have done is mod my scene dolls, but now i see the bjds I have to have one. I am very new to this so don't know very much about them. After a little shopping around I have decided to get a minifee from Fairyland. Think it will cost a lot to get into the UK but I just cant stop thinking about it. My partner and family think I am been crazy spending so much on ' Stupid doll '. I have no idea how justify it to them and not seem childish. Any tips or views would be they welcome and if anyone has had any experience with fairyland I would love to hear about it.

Hello and welcome! I'm also from the UK and adore dolls (never are they simply stupid dolls to me) and have been into the hobby for about 6 years now. I really hope you get some great advice on FairyLand, I've never bought from them, but be aware of custom charges as always ;)
Enjoy Dollieh Sanctuary!

Welcome! I know the feeling of people thinking you're crazy buying a doll for quite a bit of money. My major justification for buying my first bjd was that it was my money, and I could spend it on anything I wanted. Also, I didn't spend my money on something that may look useful or a "good purchase," and I never used it.

Think I will get a Minifee from the a la carte section A line - chloe head with face up, cutie legs, large bust and buy some 16mm eyes in a purplish colour

Hello, and welcome to DS~! :D I don't have a fairyland doll personally, but I have heard that they are great with poses.

"Stupid dolls", ha-ha. I love it when people try to claim they're childish or stupid. I feel mature enough that my 'adulthood' doesn't feel threatened by an object that happens to traditionally be thought of as a mere child's toy. "Art is in the eye of the beholder", I believe the quote went. It'd be stupid to spend money on these dolls if you didn't like them, but if having them makes you feel happy I think they're more than worth it. ;)

How would one justify any hobby or unnecessary passion?

Well, you can point out how it's not drugs, drink or other illegal passtimes.

Or you can just do what I do and ignore them. You can't change everyone's mind so sometimes it's not worth trying.
