Neat Idea for a Dollhouse

This bookcase turned dollhouse is a brilliant idea. I'm sure anyone here could do it for far less than this auction is asking.

I would love 2 of them. One for me and one for my little girl! :D
But man that pice tag!
Everyone thats a bit crafty can make a near similar "book shelve house"
I even think there are bookshelves for kids being sold over here looking much the same as these. Not with the picked fence maybe but some wood and glue could soon fix that!

I wouldn't mind paying for the plans. The price is... We could buy a car for that.

I could see painting it black and filling it up with Monsters.

I saw a tutorial SOMEWHERE once where the person showed how to make a doll house out of an old dresser/chest of drawers. The link may have even been posted here, but it was ages ago so I don't remember. The end result was pretty awesome though and simple to make!

I managed to track down my dollhouse to Fingerhut. It's bigger than the ones they sell at the toy stores and deeper than the average book shelf. Don't use the decor lip on the roof and you have four floors.

Those $30+ book shelves at the store with adjustable shelves make decent doll real estate too.

Come to think of it, there was someone selling a slightly smaller version of this (unfurnished) for cheap at my local online market thingy.

If only I had the room for either of them, oh man. You could do so much with it!

Hmm. We were thinking of making a dollhouse as a fundraiser for our club. Modding a book shelf and making it spiffy would certainly be easier since none of the girls seems to be particularly skilled at woodworking. We're not really a crafty bunch. XD Might run this by them and see what they think. Fundraising is hard. ><
