HALP: Calico Critters props for Hujoo Babies?

Postby FacelessPuppets » Mon Nov 05, 2012 9:35 am

I'm kind of size-confused here. I've always admired Calico Critters and their stuff in Toys'R'Us and similar stores, but I've never really gotten the chance to see if the adult ones are size compatible to the Hujoo Babies. People in stores would probably harrumph at me if I brought a ruler to measure the Calico Critters in-store, and they cost a little too much each to buy one just to check if it fits.

I think either the Hujoo Babies are slightly bigger than the adult Calico Critters, or almost the same size. I've never gotten a chance to compare them since I don't dare bring my dolls into toy stores.

So could I, hypothetically, buy a Calico Critters carry cottage and furniture that would fit for my Hujoo Babies? It's very tempting!

I think the Hujoo babies are a bit too big for those sets. I know I've seen them and thought that they might work for Puki or Brownies, but those are smaller dolls than the Hujoo.

This is not my picture, but the 2nd is a Hujoo Baby and the 4th is a Puki. There's not a big size difference at all, the proportions are just different.

The adult sizes work. Evelien, thanks for hunting up my picture! The dolls are (from left to right) BBB Elfkin, Hujoo Suve, 11cm Obitsu, PukiPuki Sugar, and Brownie Nono.

Thanks for the answers, guys!

I think my next step will be actually splurging on a bit of Calico Critters/Sylvanian Families/whateveryouwannacallit furniture, just something little and relatively inexpensive, and see if it matches to my girl. Hopes are lookin' a bit brighter!

Take your doll to the store with you to see if she'd fit the furniture before you buy. I have a feeling tiny doll bottoms are too big for CC chairs. Look in to regular dollhouse miniatures as most of those are 1/12 scale. Craft stores might have unfinished wood pieces that could fit.

I've taken my Hujoo Suve down to the local toy store (they have sets out for the kids to play with) and she fits some of the stuff, but not most of the stuff. It doesn't seem to be dependent on the adult/child critter furniture, just a crap-shoot. The props almost all fit, at least well enough to fudge it, though. If you have a Craft Warehouse, I found a 12 piece wooden doll furniture set there for about $10 which fits her perfectly and includes living room, bedroom and kitchen furniture. It was terribly marked, I would have missed it if someone hadn't mutilated one of the boxes and left furniture everywhere, but it was a great find

To any Canadians, keep an eye out for the Camomile Cottage sets popping up in Winners. It's the Canadian name for the Lil' Woodzeez knock-offs that are in America. The figures themselves are suposed to be subpar but the sets are awsome. All kinds of wee props! <3

I have an idea that Calico Critters stuff fits Realpukis better than Pukis.
