My pitbull's tail should be considered a lethal weapon. That thing HURTS when you get smacked with it. And because she's such a happy puppy, it's ALWAYS wagging....

Blarney could play drums with hers and she had a paintbrush on the end. When they're about 2 weeks old they start wagging, how could I be denied that?

The pattern for her was adapted from the Knit Your Own Dog book but done on big needles.

Today it's about making some pages for journals I want to reuse. I have a couple of Star Trek ones I'll be turning in to episode guides. I'll be making a Smallville one too. After realizing some of my Amazon reviews were pretty good I realized I should keep track of that stuff. Everything from 'Dr Wilson is a bi-curious vampire but he's the best oncologist this hospital has ever had' to 'We came here to punch people and eat potatoes and the blight has taken care of the potatoes' to 'Don't let Siddiq show you the dance of his people'.

I grew up with Great Danes. Face-height tails for toddlers, rump-height tails for everybody else.
In the winter we'd let the dogs in and out through the garage because it was too cold to open the front door that often (Michigan). The hallway near the garage was narrow and the poor dogs would whack their tales on the walls. Didn't stop them from wagging.

Speaking of dogs, I'm working on making a fur suit for one of those enchanting 1/6 Obitsu dogs. I found some brown and black mottled fur and have so far pinned a rectangle on the poor critter and cut away some of the extra fabric.

I'm going to pretend really hard that he is some kind of terrier so he'll fit in with my 1/3 world. I have a clear one now, and I've got a brown assemble-yourself version on the way. I'll leave his head, his tail, and the bottom two sections of his legs uncovered. That's why the brown dog and the brown/black fur. Get it?

I'm just going to hand sew the suit on. I think I'll have to take some darts or tucks on the back: the fabric stretches a little bit in one direction, but not enough to really help. I dunno. Maybe he'll be a terrier/Sharpei. I initially tried covering him (from nose to tail) with super stretchy 4-way stretch lycra Supplex. But that material stretched so much and fit so well the dog looked even creepier then w/ no covering.

And here's a lousy tablet photo that shows just how much I never dust.

haa they are charming. I've contemplated getting one many a time. Maybe pretend he's a MinPin? hehe.

I can't have glass Christmas ornaments on my tree anymore, because of Sasha's happy butt.

Actually, my Grandpa had to dock his lab's tail for medical purposes...the dog would go to a kennel when my Grandpa was on vacation, and wag his tail constantly. His tail would smack against the bars in the kennel so hard he cut himself, and when he finally got an infection from cutting himself on things he wagged, Grandpa just decided that it would be better for the dog to get his tail docked xD Doggie used to have a bald spot on his tail, too, from where the fur would wear off when he wagged things.

Today it is time to transfer all the pencil/pin/can-I-remember-what-I-meant-by-that notations from the clothes to the patterns.
I had a massive try-on of the clothes I have half-completed or mocked up on Amelia (Impldoll). She has satisfyingly wide shoulders and wears clothes very well.
Then I will take some good photos of Amelia's face, since I realized I didn't include any in my box-opening thread.
My list of patterns to annotate:
overcoat,
pleated-back skirt
cap sleeved blouse
tap pants
princess sloper
evening dress
vintage swimsuit
And also to put buttons on the swimsuit for Regina.
where's my coffee!

Do you annotate on the pattern itself, a copy that hasn't been cut out or in a separate notebook? I am always curious what other artists do. I still haven't found a good system for annotating patterns for dolls under 6 inches tall.

6" !!
I'm staying away from dolls that small!
I keep a copy of all my patterns in an un-cut-out form in a notebook. I start with a second copy and cut, fold, trim, and scribble on that. If it becomes impossible to decipher my notes, I trace the pattern piece over and begin again.

Some of the facings, like for the neck, are very small even in 1/3 scale so some of the notes end up on the back of the pattern pieces.
I also write on the pattern which version it is (mark 1, mark 2) and who it is for.

I also make a list of the pattern pieces so I can easily see how many I should have.

If I draft the same pattern for two different dolls (or people) I color code the pieces with a slash of highlighter. Pieces that both drafts can share (like pockets) I mark with both colors.

I stick a scrap of whatever fabric I used in with the pattern pieces.

For tiny dolls, I'd probably photocopy the pattern pieces and then write my notes in the spaces between the pieces.

On the subject of patterns ... does anyone happen to have (and care to share) the complete measurements needed to make patterns for Iple SID girls? I'd love to have some clothes ready for my girl when she comes in ;)
