She's beautiful. She looks like a sheltie mix. (My dog Oreo looked almost exactly like that as a puppy except Oreo had a white ring around her nose.)

Oh, Velvet is gorgeous :). I have never owned a dog but I probably will in the future because my boyfriend really wants one, so reading about how you teach them things is very inspiring :)

Do your research on breeds because there are some that aren't for first time dog owners. The puppies were one of those mixes. You'll want a size and energy level best suited for your life style.

Velvet is definitely lab, she has big lab ears, and I'm aiming towards the border collie because she looks like those kind when I do an image search. Either way a dog is a dog. Her feet are smaller than Blarney's so she won't be as big.

Thanks, I know, it's not gonna be a decision we'll be making overnight :)

Please do research on grooming too. At my old job I'd get nightmare grooms where the owners adopted a dog with a longer coat then they could keep up with. D:

Velvet is adorable and I hope she learns her job well :3 In my experience, sometimes taking in a new pet, either foster or adoption, helps heal the hurt in better time.

Awww, she is sooooo so cute! her pattern is exactly like an old dog of mine, Shadow. The little white chest and white tip paws. He was the best dog we ever had. Miss him so much :(

Yeah, her white is close to where Guinness had his. He was this big at a month old. Velvet is trying her best not to bite me, she follows whoever is moving or calls to her but she's bonding with my sister. That's for the best because she needs the dog the most.

I found our last movie of Blarney was the morning of the day she got sick, after a month gap of no movies but it was a stressful month and I took pictures. She's playing with Magic cat then goes over to her toy box. SHe was all legs and her ears were starting to perk up.

Most of training is patience and giving a name to what they're doing and rewarding good behaviors immediately. They want to please. Velvet is catching on that biting is called OUCH and if she keeps it up I won't play with her, accidents aside, if she sticks to kisses I'll play.

Our pitbull used to play bite with her first owner, so we had to break her of that habit too. (in addition to getting her up to a proper weight, on proper dog food, that wasn't french fries and bits of pizza) We used "ow" and pulled our hand away. After a while, she got the idea, and now 'ow' means she's being to rough, so she'll switch to kisses with the giant pitbull tongue. She's such a loveable doggie... and as I say this she's sitting next to the sliding glass door, with the drapery piled on top of her head. -facepalm-

Velvet is a real cutie, and I hope she fits in with your family.
