Ok, back to the posing obitsu y'all were telling me about

Thanks again both of you!
I've been told I ought to cool it on the shopping for a while anyway... so if I'm REALLY lucky (which I'm usually not) maybe the 65cm will come out in the meantime and be just as posable as the 50s XD *keeps fingers crossed*

Or the other ones at the same height. It's just that the first one is at Junkyspot.

The stock 55cm body has the ball joint style joints at the knees and elbows. These are the only two joints that differ. All the other joints between the ball joint and double joint dolls are the same. Like all Obitsus the 55cm is a very good poser. It does have a slightly decreased range of motion compared to that of the 60cm bodies as Obitsu designed the vinyl to cover more of the ball joint, particularly on the wrists and shoulders. This can be trimmed back to increase the range of motion. The other male bodies shown on the page in your link are custom "assembled" by Parabox from parts purchased from Obitsu. You can probably get them through JS but they are not stock models.

Now, if you really wanted a vinyl boy that can go posing toe to toe with the 50cm... there is the 45cm. It's got the same internals as the 50cm. I think. I'd have to check on the middle waist piece, and compare it to the 40 and 50cm. >.>;;;

But, overall, same posing ability.

Unfortunately, this one is designed to be paired with the 40cm. What COULD be done, if you want a taller boy, is simply swap the upper halves of the dolls. Grab top of doll, rip off, cram on other body, then swap arms. Voila! 50cm boy, and 45cm girl. ^.~

====================

From the few shots of the 65cm boy that I've seen.... five to one, it's just a re-skinning of the 65cm girl. -_-;;;

Grey, I'm betting that all obitsu did for the 65cm, was just elongate the limbs. Which would be why the doll itself is so 'glitchy'. It's got all the problems that the 60cm has, plus a bunch more joint-stress from being elongated.

The 65cm female body has the same style internals as the 60cm but almost all of the ball joints are scaled up in size. There is not just an elongation of the "bones". I have heard there have been complaints with the 65cm body from several buyers, but I have not been able to find out exactly what those complaints are. I have had no problems with my 65cm, which is currently at Cirquemom's house.

Oh cool! You do mean that I could buy a 40cm boy and just swap parts with the 50cm girl that is already on the way right? Or is it a different size female I'd have to get to mash it with?

Swapped the tops of my 50cm and 45cm. Since the over-all torso of the 50cm is longer, proportionally the 45cm chest looks a little small. Then again, I didn't bother to completely undress either of them since they are a pain in the keister to get in and out of their body-socks.

And, with the 40cm for a height comparison of all three together.

Not sure if this is because of the *ages* of the dolls involved (my 50cm is from '09, and the 45cm is '12)... but, I had problems with getting the 50cm arms on the internals of the 45cm. Easy way around that, which I didn't bother doing because it'd be more of a hassle for me, is to just swap the vinyl 'casing' without the internals attached. Again, this is only if you feel like swapping parts around. Keep in mind, obitsus are pretty much made to be pulled apart and put back together again.

Here's a look at the 45cm body. I can assure you, my little guy was NOT happy about this photo being taken. I didn't bother to fully undress him because I didn't want to have to wrestle him BACK into body sock, pants, shoes... tail. ^.~

It occurs to me while making this post... I should have pulled down my 55cm for a few comparison shots of him as well. Meh, that'll be for a later post then. ^___^

Thanks again Kiki!
The shots really helped me a lot.
Gives me another good option to think about....

I've been browsing this thread and learning lots...

Kiki, do you have a picture of the Obitsu 50 with the 45cm boy chest so I can see the whole body? 'cause that would be super helpful! I'm hoping to make a DD-Obitsu hybrid boy, but my character is very petite. I like the Obitsu 50 but the girls' chest is definitely not going to work, ha ha.
