Started 1st head sculpt

Postby Dirili » Mon Jul 23, 2012 3:57 pm

Started my first head sculpt last night while I was waiting for another mold attempt to cure. Here's my progress so far:

I don't think it's going to fit any dolls unless I make one big enough for it... just getting some practice in.

Thanks! :D I'll post a pic tomorrow of my progress. Really just have the ears left. I need the daylight to photograph they... I am terrible with photography, but at least daylight makes my pictures turn out more clearly.

Blah, stupid camera keeps focusing on the background instead of the head. I can't figure the darned thing out. Anyway, here's my progress thus far:

I just need to fix a dent in the head, even up the symmetry a bit and smooth things out. Think it'll be finished sculpting-wise today. Going to prime my obitsu for painting, so during drying times, I figure I'll work on the head.

And here it is all finished up sculpt-wise. Also played with sticking a few of my homemade eyes in there too for some pics. The features are a bit uneven and it's not perfectly smooth, but odds are that it's going to get messed up anyway at some point in all the experimentation, so I don't want to get too much more attached to it...

:D Thanks! I just hope I can figure out how to cast some copies... I mean it's only a test still, but I'd like to play with painting it.

It looks great! She looks really nice with the red eyes. From the pictures it looks like she isn't too noticeably uneven; after all, humans aren't perfectly even anyways.

Thanks! yeah, I was also thinking that most people don't have perfectly symmetrical heads. I know I don't! I hate how one of my eyes is more open than the other hehe and how no matter how evenly I try to smile, in every picture taken, one side of my mouth is ALWAYS higher than the other so it looks like I'm smirking lol. bleh

It's just hard to determine sometimes when I reach the point of enough symmetry.
