Hello from The Netherlands

Postby Lif » Wed Jul 25, 2012 4:03 pm

Hello I am Lif.. well online anyway :P
39 in 2 months and living with hubby and 3 kids in the Netherlands.
I have been into and out of dolls my whole life.
When I was young I made my barbie clothes myself and tried some things with barbies that my mother wasn't to happy with (gave them a make over but not the right way ;) Info was limited to non excisting in those days!)
I made tricot dolls, owned and made a whole bunch of porceline dolls (well I still own them but there in a closed somewhere in the attick... ), started on a doll house I never finished and got lost when moving house (I still feel sad about that...was such a beautifull house... Even sader about my old barbies who seemed to have been misplaced in another one of my changes of surroundings) And whished I was still teenager when some barbie like dolls came out but resisted to buy them (moxy teens for instance...altho I really like angelina balerina and some other dolls her size too..)
I knew about BJD's and loved the way they looked and all but 10 to 20 years ago (Not sure when I first saw or heard of them) it was not possible for me to buy them. And then my life happened and I forgot about dolls for a bit (well with 2 boys and a stormy life its not strange I guess)
Last year at my birthday I decided I should spend my birthday money on something I really liked instead of something I really needed (well need like hairdryers or clothes...so need is subjective :P) Something really only for me..something special.
And then out of the blue I thought about dolls again! Maybe it was because I had a 3 year old daughter who was of course playing with dolls (and had me look at dolls again hence the moxie and jolina note), who knows.
I remembered some really beautifull BJDS I came across on surfing the web and started my search as at that time I didnt know where to buy or what to search for really. But it didnt take me long to figure that out!
Turned out there was a living and triving BJD community in the Netherlands! I found a cute doll second hand and since last November I am into the dollies again!
Tanks to Molly my Bambicrony ciao Roko I fell in deep this time and tho funds are limited I am putting together a soulkid at the moment. I also found one of my favorit dolls as a child again; Pamela Love and already own 2 now. They are sitting at my desk at this moment together with my Mon chichi I rescued from my childhood (and my daughter) and other dolls are getting harder and harder to resist. There is a lot of info on the web about restyling/modification of dolls. So I guess I really am beyond help this time...no way back from this one! Even my hubby and kids gave up on me now.
Then a friend showed me this forum and I decided I should join. what harm could a little bit more of exposure to dollies do at this point anyway, right? ;)
