Hovering around 90 right now and has been the past two weeks. Man, I'm ready for summer to be over.

Doesn't help that I work in a factory building with no air conditioning or anything close to a dehumidifier. Add to that several dozen machines and ovens running between 475 and 760 degrees, and it gets a tad bit toasty in there over summer (feels WONDERFUL in the middle of January, though).

Wouldn't be so bad, actually, if it weren't for the stinking humidity. I work at night so the temp drops enough to be tolerable, but when it gets this humid, it makes it really hard to breathe.

At least at home I've got central air conditioning, so I don't have to worry about my poor resins melting. Just myself. ^^;

Grey- I would not worry about your dolls melting , I would worry about YOU melting! 114 degrees is Gehenna weather lol

Wendy- I was up a couple of weeks ago in Daly city and it was misty the first two days and it totally refreshed me, the next two days the sun was out but nothing like the valley.

We all have to be careful of the heat since as we get older we are prone to get more sensitive to the climate changes. I had a raging headache the other day when I was out beacause of the heat.

I normally just stay in take several showers during the day and try not to die.


I also take a wet cloth and just make my cats fur damp ( they are used to baths) but I dont want to get them to0-too cold since they can get sick but I worry about them poor guys...

I sweat easily like a mofo, all the time, so I just dislike any sort of heat o___O; Cause I'm always icky within 5 mins -.- *rides around on the ACed subway all day* Aaaaahhh......$2.50 AC.... z.z

Okay, I have the opposite problem. I don't sweat at all. So when it's hot, there is no way for my body to cool itself off. So my blood literally boils in my veins. It's horrible. Sweating is actually a good thing because it cools you down. My dad didn't sweat either. I don't know why.

On the other hand, my peafowl are loving it, especially the 4 chicks. They LIKE it when it is 100 out. Then again, they are from the jungles of Indonesia.

Poor things are shedding like crazy and no amount of brushing seems to help. Mebbe if I give them a bath it'll take the extra fur off. For awhile, anyway. Plus, they'll smell nice.

On the other hand, do I REALLY want two pissed-off cats lurking around, plotting evil revenge when I least expect it for daring to put them in water?

Kitty grudges are scary. And they have loooong memories. O__o

Have you tried a brush glove? Essentially it's a glove with soft rubber knobs that helps collect the hair. You pet/brush them and it's fairly claw proof if they start to wrestle with you. We play a game called "Navy rub" where I rub the cat as hard as I can while taking fur off. Have you tried one of those self brushing giant stiff pipe cleaner things?

Can't say I've ever heard of the giant pipe cleaner things, but I've heard of those brush gloves. Never tried one, but I'll have to see if I can find one next time I get to the petstore. Thanks for the idea!

No problem, I couldn't get near Taffy with a brush but with the glove I could pet her then she'd wrestle with me. I think it gives them a bit of a massage too. Found a thing similar to the giant pipe cleaner http://www.petco.com/product/15443/Omeg ... tFurniture on ours the black brushing arc is a big stiff bristle thing. It gets the cat's need to "love" everything and brushes hair off.

oooo, 111 here today and HUMID...monsoon season is truly a descent into hell

Last night we had our first thunderstorm of the season...at 1am. Why can't it thunder at a decent hour? When I'm supposed to be awake and can enjoy the rain? What's funny is, when I heard the first thunder (which was still a ways away), I thought it was my upstairs neighbor draggin something across his floor (he loves to rearrange his furniture in the wee hours when I'm trying to sleep). Then the rain hit LOL.
