Cutting eyes in 1/6 heads

Postby EAB » Thu May 31, 2012 8:06 pm

Has anyone (well, of course someone has in this talented bunch) cut the eye holes out in Obitsu 01 heads?
How on earth did you do it? What tools did you use, etc.?
Help!

Somebody had given this advice.
Take a pin/needle and poke it all around the edge of the eye area you want cut out. It perforates it which makes it easier to cut resulting in less slippage of the exact blade.

Nko made this tutorial some time ago, is on a different head but maybe it can be useful for you too...

Thanks.
Maybe I'll just paint them.

In case you're still interested... I'm going to try to make that on a 01 head next month but I'm going to use the same tools you see in the WIP pics DeeDee linked you... For now I only opened the top part of the head but I'll post updates when i do that. Meanwhile you can take a look al this: http://parabox.jp/eng_new/custom/how_to_use_knives.html
There's a sample on a small head too

Thanks, Nko.
I haven't painted her eyes yet. Maybe I'll hold off and see what you do.
I also looked at the tutorial. Very helpful. I'll need a tiny blade.
I liked the ideas about using solvents, too. I cut her ears off to re-position them, and vinyl adhesive doesn't work worth a darn for sticking them back on. Maybe I could melt both surfaces sufficiently with a solvent and re-attach them that way, and smooth the join afterwards. Heck, I might as well try it.
This poor girl has really been through the wringer.
