I was so terrified I was in a panic. I was raised with protecive parents and my first forum I ever joined my parents made sure I had basically everything I needed to hide from my peers who I really was. Alias, rules, what to do in case of bullying....My first troll encounter left us pretty chilled...

But I grew up and figured I wasn't ten anymore it was okay to give a little bit of info but not to broadcast everything.

Thats horrible! I'd be scared to death about random people breaking and entering or and worse (okay who am I kidding I DO fear these things) XD
Same here my alias is Animegirl or Kate if I have to give out a name
and again same here I'm not 14 any more and x amount of years now I finally posted a real photo of myself and my real name on my facebook page...and still panicked like crazy since online people scare me sometimes

Oh trust me I was terrified of pedo's trying to hunt us down. Luckily my parents cracked the whip on that quickly. Our address never made it public.

I go by Storm mainly enough because it's apart of my real name....But my first name is a bit of a known one amongst those who are working on the Unwind movie sight...A lot of my art they liked so much they put on their blog.

I blocked someone after they complimented me on a photo....I went to their profile and found a lot of creeper things. I felt all slimey.

I try to be cautious I feel like such a dork but I freaked out when someone new joined my Trauma Center forum and started grilling me. We're a close knit group.

I'm pretty google-able online because I'm an amateur singer-songwriter and yeah, I wanted to let people know what I do. I feel sorry for publishing my music accompanied by my first AND last name though. I should have chosen a stage name... Other than this, what scares me a bit is that when you register a domain name online, EVERYONE can access your full name, address and telephone number. Not cool. And there's no way to protect yourself from this. The only thing I could do, was leave my addresses as they were with my providers when I moved to a new address. Now most of my domain names will give you my old address and telephone number :P

I use old information whenever possible, too, and always my writing handle instead of a real name. I google myself every now and then just to be sure I don't come up. Hubby thinks I'm being over paranoid, but it gives me peace of mind.

I just googled myself out of curiosity. Thankfully I seem to be off the map. Yay!
On a more humorous note: the images search brought up a chubby 12 year old boy standing over a dead deer and a man trying to stuff a whole fish into his mouth. I'm sort of sad...it used to always bring up a goat as the first picture. I want my goat back.

What were you expecting?

And I've googled myself too thankfully my name is also the name of someone I think who works on disney movies so I don't come up but she does so I'm safe (I think can't get google to work to clarify)

I just did a Google image search for myself and yeah, I found dozens of dozens of pics of me (boring) but also a few pics of friends and kids that I taught. I must have posted on their Hyves profiles... Meh.

zirconmermaid wrote:Well, it looks pretty good, but you need to double check your spelling and grammar. That will detract from the tone you are trying to set. Also - punctuation is a good thing! You have some confusion over "its" and "it's", also "there" and "their". Most spellcheckers seem to have some trouble with these. I posted a comment with editing and one suggestion. If I were a child of 12 or 13 going online for the first time, I would hope that my teachers or parents would have told me these. Do you think there are a lot of kids who don't get this?

Thank you I noticed the comment Live journal doesn't have spell check which is part of the problem. I just edited it I hope you don't mind I just copied and pasted your edits and added on 5a of don't be a drama lama (thanks for the suggestion)

I know I was told at least the basics when I was 13. I don't know it seems to me however that a lot of kids think its okay to bully others... then act if they are the victim or just not know which is why we have such YA books as "Lets go privet" seeing as a lot of kids either get it but don't care or just don't get it

You can type your stuff in a word document that does have spell-check and copy/paste it over to your journal when you're ready to post it.
