The 2012 Head Cabinet

Postby DollyKim » Fri Mar 02, 2012 9:54 am

This year's batch of doll people. There are ideas battling to see who will end up being fleshed out and I have some major repair work to do on some older heads.

Our first contestant is Homunculus Jimmy out of Apoxie Sculpt because the last one didn't work out for reasons we're coming to terms with.

This is being modeled directly on to a Triad Samurai Champloo body, the plastic is to keep the eventual hair from sticking so his head will turn. He needs a few places filled in and some dry work done. It's important to have placement ears so the hair will sit right.

Did some dry work, took the eyes off, shaped the bridge of the nose a bit. Made the head sit better on the neck.

The first round might have had more realistic proportions but it wasn't sitting right with me to be "my Jimmy". Emphasis on the my part. When he's dry the eyes will be filled in and shaped better, the right cheek and a couple other places will get filled. The head in general needs to be built up a bit before hair can be added.

I really like the nose, looks very natural. ;)

Thanks, I pinched the basic shape with my fingers then went in with a pick and poked nostrils. That does a lot of the shaping on the bottom.
