but the other ones have a hard plastic base, these that I saw today are just stiff fabric.

Oh those! I know exactly what those are. derp
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

I suppose I should look into getting my own carry bag. Right now I just use an old knitting purse of mine and shove a few scarves in there to protect my doll.

I wrap my Yo-SDs in a super soft blanket and Rio just gets a face-up protector which also helps keep his wig on. I carry them in my Dollieh Sanctuary tote for meets and for trips I usually have them in a blanket and any type of bag with a zipper.
I'm mostly on Tumblr now.

So I finally broke down today and bought a Craftsman tool bag for a carry bag. It's made of cloth but has a stiff frame to keep it from collapsing. It's long enough for my two MSDs to lie down comfortably in the bottom. I figure I'll place them in there on a doll pillow, put a pillow over them, and then layer the YoSD and Tiny on top, along with all their variable accessories. The bag has lots of outside pockets and even came with a strap so I could sling it over my shoulder if I get tired of carrying it (and I am SUCH a fan of messenger bags). ^.^

I'm planning on trying to remove the "Craftsman" logo from the front, since the sight of what is obviously a toolbag might look suspicious in some places. But other than that, it just looks like a really nifty red and black bag. *thumbsup*

Make sure you line it with something so you don't have staining issues from the dyed fabric.

Going to be returning the tool box I purchased. Apparently, what they call "lid storage" is actually just grooves in the top of the lid for like loose screws and stuff as well as a cup holder. >_> I thought they meant compartments... Sooooo returning this ne and going for the basic one. Yeesh.

i have a dual-laptop bag, since its the only thing i could find that fits the monster comp. with all the padding and pockets in it, i can stick in all the 12" dolls i have so far (thou granted i am rough on mine and don't worry about their faces alot). if only taking a few somewhere nearby, i lay them into my warhammer army case, minus one layer of foam padding.
edited to add pic. the left is the laptop bag. each big pocket holds 5 12" dolls comfortably, thou i am sure i could cram in up to 8 if needed. the front pocket can hold 2-3 12" and several minis in the small accesory pockets. nice thing about this bag is if i am going to a con, i can slip luggage-locks into the zippers and not worry about walking in the dealer's room crowds.
the right is the warhammer case, which holds far less and i don't use it as often.

i think for the big doll i'm gonna make a quiver-like case out of a mailing tube for her... not sure yet.

everyone uses a 'doll bag' but me. ♥ people simply cannot believe that i use 'lawn bags' to carry around thousand dollar dolls. i do occasionally pop them into a tote, but as a general rule i use the clear leaf bags that our town provides us for fall clean up.

i put an oxygen mask on the dollie, i position the hands where i can see them, sometimes i have dollie mitts on the hands, and away i go.

i have never had a problem yet. i can always see exactly where the doll is in the bag because the bags are clear.

A clear case with compartments would be neat to show off the little people trapped inside.

they make these neat clear cases for carrying rolled-up art. sadly they only come in 2-3", not wide enough for an 1/3 doll :(
trying my darnest to find one wide enough. it would be awesome to carry one around like that.

edit: with easter here, i found that some of the larger plastic eggies can fit a tiny. i have mika in a med. size kinder one. the only issue is her ears stick up too high so i cant close it all the way, just past the first click.
