Extreme Head Modding - May 25th Update

Postby Shinku_Rhapsody » Thu Jan 26, 2012 7:51 pm

Now, here's the poor head that didn't even get the dignity of a box opening. Mainly because he looks nothing like the character I'm going to shape him to be.

Image

At least he's smiling like he's supposed to.
This boy is a Doll Family A Practice Head, btw.
The resin doesn't quite match, but that's okay. I'll have to paint over it anyway because of the epoxy.

Image

He's a quick photoshop of what I'm doing to him.
I'm going to reshape and reduce the eyes, make his nose bigger, make his mouth and lips bigger, and reshape his jaw line so he looks more like a 12-13 year old boy.

Image
And here's the aftermath of the dremel. It looks rough right now, but after I apply the epoxy and sand it all down, he should look much nicer.

And here's the rough look of his head after the epoxy. His lips are a bit more styled than I intended but that's okay. I was going to get the nice white epoxy, but I'm painting over it anyway (also it was more expensive *cough*).

Image
All nice and sanded. Although it's hard to tell from the picture, the epoxy is now as nice and smooth as the surrounding resin. Except for a tiny tiny few pits, which the paint will probably cover. I'll also tweek the lips, nose, and eyes a little more before painting (I just noticed his lips aren't symmetrical... >.<).

Wow....such a big change. I can't wait to see this character all done. You are way braver than I. I would be to scared to attempt a mod like this. :D

Thanks guys! I did his faceup today, but the light was fading. So all I got was a blurry picture... I'll post one tomorrow or Saturday after I get his lashes in and a make a quick wig.

Anyway, he's what he looks like painted. He looks so much pinker in real life.
Image

And it will have to come off if I ever decide to change his faceup. Which isn't a bad thing, since the body he's borrowing is yellow normal resin and he looks closer to pink resin right now...

Okay, final pictures! His face up:

In the second picture, you can kind of see the difference between his current and original skin color. And he actually needs an eye size smaller, so if you have a pair of 12mm brown eyes you're willing to part with, let me know!

Taka isn't too keen on having to share his body, but oh well. Also, I'm going to have to get him a less fluffy wig, though it works for now. n_n
