A simple answer but I'm asking anyway

Postby animeangel09189 » Sat Jan 14, 2012 8:30 pm

BJD's and necklaces blah blah blah long story short my mom gave me these two necklaces that would be good sizes for a MSD sized BJD my question is this could they stain my doll in anyway if left them on? probably not but better to check then to be sorry later

EDIT: Here are some photos I'm not sure what they are made out of but they smell kind of like a penny would (easy enough to fix right?) and they are gold color

Pictures of the items would help. Or at least a little more information. What are the necklaces made of? What colors are they?

They are probably zinc or some other base metal with a gold-colored finish on top. This will start to flake away pretty quickly, leaving the base metal which will almost certainly stain. This is why old Barbies get "green ear" when people leave in their earrings (earrings on the new ones are all plastic, which doesn't stain).

No harm in putting them on for a short time but I would not leave them on.

Short while means less then a weak. Like how an Obitsu will even stain if you leave it in dark colors for months.

I've had a true-silver necklace tarnish but the doll who wears it doesn't wear it on his "skin" (or if he does, it's only for a quick photo). Yeah, anything that doesn't come from a doll company I wouldn't leave on resin for very long. Over clothing (like a high-collared shirt or turtleneck) should be fine.
