I have a Twilight Victoria Barbie coming on Monday. But there's a good chance I may be getting a big girl or two on Friday. A local store has had several 16" fashion dolls in stock for almost a year and they have having a huge clearance sale this weekend. They don't sell well here so they're just sitting on a shelf for a long, long time.

I've been watching them carefully. This one gal there she and I are sometimes chatty and she's put them away on a shelf for me to pick the ones I want on Friday. There are 4 there, likely I'll take them, use the CC and call it Christmas in Nov. These are $150-200 dolls and I'll be picking them up for like $20-25 so it's like getting 4 for a song basically. I can always flip their clothes for what I paid for them and keep the dolls so that's likely what I will do.

I'll show you all on Friday.

:)

They are some of the 16" Madame Alex fashion/character dolls. Not the little girls, the 16" fashion model type dolls, sized like Tonner, Vita, Gene, Clea Bella etc. These are older ones. This store it's kind of a discount store a la Big Lots, but I don't think they're national. They get random stuff, clothes mostly, but sometimes collector's dolls.

They had a whole bunch of Alexander little dolls for a while, but the only big ones that I ever saw there were these 4 plus an Elle Woods and a Snow White. The Elle and the Snow White, they finally sold at some point, but the other 4 have just been sitting there for months the boxes just getting dusty. I've had my eye on them. I figured if and when they got to $30 or less I'd grab them.

Tis the Season, and patience is a virtue...

Ooo rock on, I can find some dolls like that at Tuesday Morning near me some times. Last year at Christmas time Gift_in_Edge and I found some Jun Planning dolls there and she got a Hestia Isora and a J-Doll.

On my own dollieh waiting note, my tracking number for my Mini Dollfie Dream body is finally working and she's on her way from Norway! :D
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

Made the second payment on my DZ Annie plus 1/3 of the next payment, and have $80 put aside for my RS Dai/Gang. -angst angst- Got the shipping notification for the eyes I ordered for Annie, and the wig is already home... the wig for Dai will ship Monday or Tuesday, and the eyes shipped this past Wednesday.

Well, I didn't get all of the ones they had. Unfortunately someone scooped me on the Disney ones and the Desperate Housewife, but I did get a Rising Star Jadde Lee and a Travel With Style Alexandra Ford and for $22 a pop they were more than worth the wait. Looking at them in the box I thought the outfits looked good, but I had no idea really until I popped them off the dolls how nicely made they really were. These are some of the nicest MA outfits I have ever seen. I think they'd go for $30-40 by themselves if I popped them on Ebay.

I thought the Jadde dress was some kind of heavier cotton material, nice, but nothing too special except for the nice color scheme. Wrong, it's real silk. So was the shirt on the TWS Alex. All of it's great but the TWS coat is just phenomenal. It looks like a real high end coat. It's some sort of heavy weight flannel or wool. The buttons work, and it's padded and lined properly like it's a $5000 coat from Dior or Chanel something. Nice shoes, bags, jewelry, the works, on both of them. MA went full out on these two.

I was going to sell the clothes, should sell them to pay for this little splurge, but now I am really waffling. It's not like I don't have enough clothes to outfit them properly otherwise, but these outfits are so exceptional I'm kind of reluctant to part with them. At the very least I'm thinking I may keep the great coat. I put the outfits in baggies for now until I can make up my mind. The silk shirt could go, the heels, the bags and stuff, I suppose. But the rest I'm really reluctant.

I usually hate splitting outfit pieces up but I think selling the accessories could pay for these dolls and I could still keep the coat, the pants, and Jadde's silk dress and not feel too guilty about it. I've spent quite a lot on dolls this year though and I'm being very naughty keeping these outfits if I do. I was really supposed to stop for the year with Victoria and the 2 MT's I got that were supposed to be for Christmas. It's not like they cost a fortune as heavily discounted as they were but still it's money on the CC that's not supposed to be there.

These two MA dolls are a bit scarce online compared to some. The only pics I can find online are always the same and they aren't too decent. Too small. You can't really see how nice the outfits are but I don't want to take the outfits out of the bags until I am sure of what I am keeping. I have animals so it's better if I don't display them at all unless I do decide to keep them. I'll take some pics in the bags tomorrow and pics of the dolls two once I get them redressed. Both of them are sitting drying right now. They were in the box so long the hair was messed up and I had to wet and reset it.

This shop has pics of both of them. Language isn't English though. Jadde is also at Matilda dolls, but the TWS Alex was harder to find pics of.

Both of them have the most interesting faces. The Alex looks more than a bit like Greta Garbo and the Jadde's face is just lovely. Her eyes are so blue. She's kind of 1930's in style, very retro compared to the other Jaddes I have. She's a favorite with me. I have a couple of her. The one thing I didn't like about them was that they didn't have the articulated ankles and feet for some reason. The other dolls I have of this type always did so thought it was pretty standard. Apparently not. The arms are articulated, even the wrists, and the knees are, but not the ankles and feet. The bodies will do but I'm kind of glad all the other MA dolls were gone now if this was how they all were. They wouldn't have made very good body swap dolls after all.

We have a Tuesday Morning here. I've never paid too much attention to it being here. The couple of times I've been in there all they had was the MA little kid dolls and a few random Liv dolls, lots of stuffed toys. I guess I'd better start popping in there more often if they sell these. I still want an Amanda, a Sienna, and a Paris at some point. Having a complete set of these would be nice. I really thought I'd have my Sienna face doll today. The Disney girls both had her face and so did the Elle Woods, but no such luck unfortunately.

I think the next doll on my list from this set is Unmatched Elegance Amanda Fairchild. I've been really wanting her. A lady in my doll group here has her. She's lovely and her outfit is just beautiful. Always a Lady Paris and Fabulous 50's Sienna are also on my want list. Those three would round out my Alex set quite nicely and all of them have some really nice clothes so they'd be worth the buy I think even if I ended up paying more than $20 or so for them. Amanda is actually on Ebay naked right now but I'm just more into buying these three with their clothes.

Why I am feeling guilty about getting these I don't know. I went over there half expecting to be buying 4 dolls and I only bought two so actually I was being good kind of, right? 'P

I just bought my first Pullip - a Little Pullip Seine off Yardsellr. I'm looking forward to seeing her and deciding if I'm going to swap out her body. Any suggestions on body options would be appreciated.

I'm also going to pay of my layaway for my Doll Family Ella next week. She's still going to be about a month or so out, but I'm already squeeing inside!

I got the eyes for my male Dai today... two weeks ahead of schedule. Unfortunately, the color was hella disappointing. Not really at all like the picture. So I'm off to find another pair. Buuuut.... as I posted in the Rejoice thread, I get to pay off my DZ layaway early, so I can probably order my Dai next month. He'll be my anniversary doll lol. Should have it paid off and home just before the anniversary of the day I ordered my very first doll XD... and I will have managed to accumulate 6 BJD in one year. It may not seem like a lot, but it makes me feel accomplished, because there was a time I was sure I'd never be able to own a resin BJD.

I know what you mean. I waited six years before I was in a position where I could pay for anything outside of bills and ramen noodles. It's so awesome to be able to finally get the dolls I've always wanted. And then chibify them. :-p

I think it was about three years prior to meeting my "enabler friends" that I first saw anything about BJD, and had the classic "they want how much for a doll?!" reaction. But I knew I was in love, and picked out a bunch of different ones I liked, but "could never afford".... honestly, I may someday buy the first one I picked out as a sort of sentimental thing, though I'm not as fond of the sculpt as I once was. It was an Angel of Dream, which are still among some of the more reasonably priced dolls out there.
