NaNoWriMo

Postby Linteia » Mon Oct 31, 2011 11:42 pm

Is anybody else going to work on NaNoWriMo this year? It just occurred to me that I only have an hour and a half until the start for me. Yay! I'm excited :D

First year trying it. My partner and I have a novel we've spent months planning - this is the incentive we need to stop worrying about getting it right, and just get it out. :) It is (or will be) a subtexty, fluffy detective novel set in the 1930s.

The awful part? I'm already thinking of dolls to represent the two main characters. First draft first, dolls later. :)

I want to, but I'm still working on the last two Nano projects I started. If I start a third project I'll NEVER get them done.

As for dolls, I totally get that. I searched high and low for the perfect doll to portray the MC of my first novel, the Shadow King. The second novel, WISH, was actually inspired by a doll I already own.

And I just got in Soom's new centaur Zinc, and he's already whispering story ideas to me for THIS year's project, even though I keep telling him to shut up. *shakes fist at Soleil* I tell you, I'm not starting a third project until I get at least one of the first two finished! Stubborn horse's ass... *grumble*

I managed to actually do Nanowrimo a few years ago and it was great but I just haven't been able to find the time since then. Considering I'm graduating in 48(EEK)days I really shouldn't try. Next year though, I'll be all over it.

I think I will do a miniature version. I won't go for the total word count, I think I will aim for 40,000 or something like that. This is only so I can continue making time for classwork this semester.

Are you going to sign in? If so, what name do you use?

This sounds kinda interesting, I'm also glad someone finally explained what NaNoWriMo was... >.>
A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.

I lost all my older NaNo's in a computer failure, so this year is a complete reset for me. I'm thinking of putting in little nods to my lost but still loved attempts, but I'm not sure yet.

I'm ever on the Dolly search for my characters from my first NaNo, but have only tentatively found one (of six) so far. ;_; This year I didn't plan on putting any of my dolls in but one of them sort of snuck in as a supporting character without me noticing.

It's a ton of fun, even if occasionally it makes you want to go on a crazy keyboard-smashing rampage. ;) This will be my seventh year and I have yet to actually finish, but I look forward to it all year none-the-less. :D

I've been looking for a good way to get my dolls story out on paper and this might just be the best way to do so... :D
