Other 1 3 scale dolls

Postby dogs0813 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 7:45 pm

I really like 1 3 scale obitsus and Dollfie Dreams but I can't exactly Afford 300 dollars for a doll, at least not anytime soon. I was wondering if there are any other dolls (cheaper) in this size I could use for a body to put one of these dolls heads on. I already know Tonner American model dolls. Thank you.

If you are talking vinyl dolls with the poseability of the obitsu, then the answer is no. You pretty much have to move to the resin dolls to get something less expensive in that size - and even then you will be getting close to $300. Resin dolls are also different from the vinyl - more realistic sculpting, but less poseablity.

It may seem like a lot of money for a doll, but it is worth it to not compromise. If you keep an eye out here and on ebay, sometimes you'll see second hand ones with some flaws that are under $200.

I would be willing to sacrifice some poseability (not much though) if the price is right (and so are the size and the looks).

The ResinSoul 58cm and 61cm bodies are really nice---comparable in size/shape to the 60cm Obitsu or Volks DDs---and are much less cost! I used the RS bodies for a lot of my girls and it works perfectly with the DD heads or Obitsu and Parabox heads. ^^

Emory-san carries them with heads for about $190 + s/h or you can look on DoA's marketplace for just the bodies. They're often up on there for about $150, plus or minus. ^^
Obitsu heads are about $20-25 each and Volks heads are about $45 each.

Then you can put Volks DD heads or Obitsu's Gretel head or Haruka or Sheba or anything on it!

Good luck!

I'm going to 2nd Bobobie/Resinsoul :) Junkyspot has in stock full dolls by them in that size for around $200, (a couple of the girls with the BBB bodies are only $178!). To get the most out of their poseability, you might have to wire them or suade them, but they're definately good, economical bodies

I most definitely 3rd BBB/RS, I also recommend that you make sure you get their double jointed bodies if poseability one of your main concerns.

I'm sorry guys to put you through all this trouble because I think I am just going to get a 1 6 or 1 4 scale doll. The reason is because I took a measuring tape and I looked at how tall 60cm would be and it's REALLY BIG  and I was exited before because the biggest doll I ever had before was about 18 inches but then when I saw how big it would be I was kinda like I'm not sure I'm ready for a doll that big. Sorry everyone.

All of my dolls are MSD aka the 18" because I did the same thing, I was like "woah too big!" But these smaller ones are perfect for me! :D

1/3 is definately not for everyone lol...but the good news is, 1/6 and 1/4 size resins are generally a lot cheaper :D
