I can completely relate. I'm 24 and living at home, and my mom still gets a kick out of me asking permission to go visit my bf in CT (even though I'd be driving myself in my own car with my own purchased gas, lol). I have two dolls on the way which are actually gifts from friends, and I'm terrified of my parents walking in and seeing them on my desk (they don't approve of the one doll I have, unfortunately).
But I think that respectfully approaching your parents is the right decision. Especially if they might have access to your bank account and might suddenly be wondering what this doll site you ordered from is (and wonder if it's fraud and might cancel the order, etc.) If you are responsible enough to be working and saving your own money for something you have your heart set on, they shouldn't have a problem letting you spend your own money. And they'll probably just be impressed that you took the time to speak to them about it first
