For all you multiple (resin) doll owners, do you limit yourself to the offerings of only one company?
Not at all! ^^ Since we make 'character or portrait' dolls, I go around searching ALL the companies/brands until I find the sculpt that will work best as a starter base for the certain character we're making.
For my preference, I love the DD bodies, the Obitsu 60cm bodies and the ResinSoul bodies---they're so animelike and can all be easily mixed and matched! For heads, of course I adore the Volks DDs for anime characters, and the Parabox anime head is terrific, too. We have 26 Obitsu/Volks DDs 1/3 vinyl bjd, so you know we love 'em! ^.~
For realistic portrait dolls? I like AoD bodies (male), Impldoll bodies, and Dollmore bodies. The new Island Doll bodies are decent, too. Usually, I find the varied sculpts of AoD can work for what I need! It's really amazing how AoD has such a wide difference in each of their models and mature looks. None look alike which is awesome! I love Dollzone, but they do have a stylized' look where you can tell from a mile away ----"Ah! That's a DZ!"
I also love Dollmore---again, like AoD, a vast array of styles and mature looks.
Volks, I'm actually not that fond of for realistic--they're all a bit too 'cutesy' and childish looking to me. I guess it's because we do make chara dolls that it's tough to find a Volks sculpt that will actually work for a real person who's not 12-15 years old.
So, I buy whatever brand/company suits the project I'm working on currently. ^^
