I've turned into a doll snob :O

Postby catshem » Mon Jul 18, 2011 5:37 pm

I've come to realize that ever since getting into this hobby I have come to love jointed dolls more than non-jointed dolls. When i saw the barbie Fashionistas I almost bought the whole bunch just because they were jointed. T_T I am so sorry dollies, you all deserve love, jointed or not.

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I am the same way! I see any doll with joints and instantly grab it. I also have a pretty strong preference for resin dolls although I'm trying to work on that. Non resin kiddos never hold my attention for long. Thats why I figured I'd go ahead and bit adieu to the hujoo and not bother with getting my 11cms yet. chances are I'll turn around and sell those. I also have a weird thing about not being able to keep boy dolls. I'll buy em and have them back up for sale the next day. apparently I've an aversion to boy dollieh bits. O_O

It's so hard to go back when you experienced the joints....and even harder when the said jointed doll is awsomely posable My doll isn't exactly in the awsomely posable pool however she still stands by her self (something that made me insanely happy) and poses nicely.

But in some cases, I do want a doll, joints or not. Usually it's like that if the face and/or hair appeals to me a lot more than their ability to pose.

lol I feel bad about it. I grew up on Barbies, but it might be some residual resentment from them mostly being non-jointed. I was usually always frustrated that Barbie didn't sit down correctly. But I loved Barbie, which is what makes me feel bad about my new snobby behaviour. :x
I prefer girl dolls actually, hehe. My one boy doll and male floating head are outnumbered by my girls. They don't get harassed too bad though. Mostly my floating head, Luc, gets made fun of by Xalez a lot. :P

*cough* Somehow, any male doll I want/ planning is just..girly. That probably has to do with the fact that I can only draw feminine characters and that I plan on making 5 male dolls, and 4 of them look like girls. But sometimes I want to get a beefy male *cough*DragondollandBoyd*cough* for the heck of it, now only if they weren't way out of my price range....

I know right? I can only afford 1/6 scale or smaller Obitsu's and I always see those nice, larger scale, dolls that look wonderful.. but are so expensive T_T Not that I don't love my 27cm and the one 21cm dolls I have, I just think It'd be nice to own ONE big doll.

I found out one of my collectible dolls was jointed, and I almost ripped him out of the box for keeps, but I stopped myself. I didn't know what to do with him. Like, sure I'd have him, but he struck me as the kind of doll with a personality of a smug jerk... my girls don't like that. I need sanity in my house, bad enough my boy, Blade, dive bombs the cat. >_>

The worse part is that even with the 1/6 obitsus, if one was to get body, head, clothes, supplies for painting, rooting, etc, etc, it would cost....a lot. I was planning on getting a 23cm obitsu with rooted hair for my first doll, but the cost of stuff I had to get online (including shipping), was like $80something. (not including the cost of brushes and stuff I wanted to get for painting) This was partly because I wanted rooted head, included a can of MSC and shoes but still. And then a really cheap 1/4 girl was available so I ended up getting her instead. *sigh* I would love, love, love, to have a 50cm Obitsu, but it's going to be hard to not spend that amount of money on smaller Obitsus along the way.

Oh god yeah, when we add up all the little things then that cheap body suddenly becomes expensive. @_@
I don't know how everyone does it, but they manage to get these dolls and I'm envious. I just have to bide my time when extra cash flow comes in.

the cuties are just way too adictive and expensive. I know where all my money goes. Dolls. And the husband never lets me forget it. Not for a second. I got a talking to yesterday complete with a list of ebay reciepts tallying well over a thousand dollars... just for the last month. And its crazy I bought two big things a 400 dollar doll and a 100 dollar outfit the rest was just nickled and dimed away. I just can't stop myself. X_x

omg I feel for you. My husband doesn't let me forget he's the breadwinner. He doesn't like to withold me from my hobbies but he also has to think about our finances. He also likes to remind that he's the one who works, which is why I can't wait to get over my cold so I can focus again on my doll wings and advertising them better. I had to put a hold on most doll expenses so we can catch up again. *flops on floor*
