European dealers for the bigger Obitsus?

Postby Evelien » Tue May 31, 2011 2:12 pm

Now, for my smaller Obitsus I am a happy customer over at Mimi Woo's, cause buying from her in Hong Kong is actually cheaper than buying from our Eastern neighbours in Germany lol, but I haven't been able to find a good place to buy the bigger Obitsus (40-60cm) yet. I could get them from Mimi Woo or the Junky Spot or Parabox, but I'd probably get charged big time by customs... the smaller Obitsus and other small packages from there always get through, but I don't think the big ones would. That's why for those, I'd like to find a European dealer... but I can't find any! So far I've only found German http://www.plasticpop.de, but they only sell the small ones (21-27cm). Anyone got any ideas..? I looked on the official Obitsu page for sales addresses, but nothing... are the bigger Obitsus sold in Europe at all..? Thanks in advance for any info..

I've been getting all my doll supplies from plasticpop too then later mimiwoo. The shipping takes longer from HonkKong but it's sooo much cheaper. e_e I never got charged for mimiwoo packages and they never got into customs, but I guess it's because I haven't ordered a bigger doll than a 1/6. There is a chance maybe that plasticpop or an other european online shop will stock big obitsus some day. I could write an email to plasticpop if they plan to import larger dolls some day. They are quite friendly so I hope they won't shun me off right away x-D. I've been looking for sites like this forever but none of them stock big obitsus e_e

I've already sent them an e-mail about bigger Obitsus, hopefully they'll reply soon, if they do I'll let you know :).

What I often see happening though, is that when European dealers get the foreign stuff in stock, it's more expensive than it would be for myself to get it from Asia or America, dealing with customs and all... But it's a risk we'll have to take..

I'm waiting for my first big Obitsu but she's second hand and will be all wrapped up like a present, so I'm wondering if it'll get past customs unchecked haha. We'll see. I'll post about that here, too :P

Message from Plasticpop.de:

Dear Evelien,

thank you very much for your eMail!

Regarding your request:
Of course it is possible to order bigger Obitsu-bodies. Just let us know (possibly with direct link to the parabox article description) what Obitsu and/or Parabox articles you'd like to get and we'll send you a free offer. You can then accept this offer by sending us a confirmation including your plasticpop account number. After receiving your confirmation we'll order your wished items together with our normal re-stock order. After receiveing the order confirmation from Parabox we'll set up an order for you in our shop-system. When you'll get our order confirmation you have 8 days to pay the full amount. Please note, that for this kind of order we have to make sure that you'll not cancel your order, we'll only order items that aren't listet in our shop by explicit customer request.

I hope, you'll find these informations useful and I wish you a nice day!

Best regards,
Alessandro

Sounds good, wonder how much it will be though..! I'll ask him later, don't have time now :)

I know Parabox will not falsify customs declarations, however...shipping is free for orders over $150 USD and the price will be direct. You may want to check that out.

Also, doesn't Junky Spot ship international??? I think he does.

You may wish to check out the customs amounts versus the exchange rates and European "dealer" prices. You may be very surprised.

I know when I was big into collecting Silkstone Barbies and even Ellowyne Wildes, MANY collectors still opted to purchase form the US and pay customs because they came out better in the long run.

Mimi Woo ships for free too, her cheapest big Obitsu is about $259, the cheapest at Parabox is $288. How can I check out how much customs will be? If it's about $20 + 20% of the item's price, what I suspect is the case, in Mimi Woo's case that would be an extra $72, which makes the total $331, which is about €226,18.

European companies often charge the original price, but in € instead of $. In this case that would mean that I'd have to pay something between €260 and €300 shipped. So yeah, I think getting the items straight from Asia is cheaper than getting them imported from Europe in the long run, that's why I contacted PlasticPop asking how much they'd charge for a big Obitsu shipped from Germany to NL. No response so far. I'll let you know.

Would the German post office not be able to tell you how much duty would be charged on a doll about $260 in value?

Actually, I like my dolliehs more than I like a lot of people I know in real life.
Is that bad? I think not!

I think I'd need the Dutch post office for that, I live in the Netherlands, not Germany ;). And yeah I suppose I can ask :), I'll have a look online.

Oh one that Gift_in_Edge and I often look at that I had forgotten about is www.hjl.com (Hobby Link Japan), they sell a more action figures but they do also sell some doll stuff. As well as Azone, don't know if you've looked at Azone dolls at all.

A hobby isn't supposed to leave you wistful, regretful and vaguely disappointed. BJD collecting is as customizable as the dolls themselves. Do whatever pleases you the most, because otherwise, why do it at all? All for the 'Gram Bitches love the 'Gram.
