Less than a year ago, Highlander and I decided to take our doll collection is a new direction - deciding it was finally time to step up to the 60cm sized girls. Before them we had collected mainly Silkstones and Tonner dolls - nice fashion dolls, but not 'vinyl daughters' so to speak.
He got one Obitsu and I got one Dollfie Dream. We thought one would be fine and we could get a couple of heads and swap them out.
Little did we know how these dolliehs can take on a personality and grow on you so quickly (NO HEAD SWAPPING - they will not allow it). They also multiply. FAST!
It is funny how nowadays I shop less for shoes (unless they are for the dolls) and he buys fewer video games and we see everything in terms of 'dolls'. "Hey, did you know that "so & so" costs the same as 2 Obitsu basic bodies?" So funny.
Anyway, K2 warned us and he was *so* right. The 60/50cm dollieh family is up to 20 with 4 more on the way (hopefully at home before our 1st doll anniversary that would be fun) and several in the works just waiting bodies. Oddly enough, only 4 - 2 Obis and 2 DD - were purchased at retail. We tend to buy unwanted or used dolls and fix them up. Our house is truly a 'dollieh sanctuary' of sorts - it always has been (just ask the RanD Angels).
It is our shared hobby and what we love to do. One kid, 9 cats and loads of dolls - welcome to our weird, but wonderful world.
How do the dolliehs lure you all in?
