I know what you mean about the sanding...err I mean not being able to sand the tan one's or being able to take them out in the sun, but as for the photo thing, I think all dolls have their " don't bother me " days * giggles * .

And I can relate to the yellowing too, my dear Lysander .. he is my first Dollshe Hound, he is 5 years old and he was once a soft pink pale normal skin color, and now he is a Dollzone beauty white :P LMAO so how's that for color fade .

My Xavier, DZ Fei, is almost 4 and has a slight green tinge to him, as well as his head and body being from different resin batches and aging differently. To me it just says he's been there, done that, has oversized twin "brothers" to prove it. Next doll meet I'll take one of the twins and see how their never go anywhere selves have aged. There were plenty of tanned lovelies at the meet up and it's making me think hard about a tanned Xmas baby.

With the Littles matching can be a problem. Dr Foreman's head doesn't match her body, her head is from around '94 and looks great but her new Bratz body is going green. Otherwise the only discoloring I've had are some dirty looking noses.

DoA has a lot of "know it all" children and when one of their threads becomes full of them, I find it best for my sanity to leave that thread. But if it's really bothering you, maybe you could pm the mod and let them know of your concern and maybe the thread will get locked.

And speaking of yellowing, then there is French resin. My lovely pinky white Narae has to a soft creamy yellow. At least it's even and she still looks OK but it does sadden me a bit. But my realskin non-UV treated Iple EID boys are at least fine and they've not greened and my Evan is over a year old now. I do love that realskin though. It photographs beautifully and that balances out the fact that I can't sand them.

I like the complexion on the light tan dolls, i have a light tan lucky. She is blonde hair blue eyed and looks like a lil girl from the beach.
the bobobie ns is just very pale and kinda pink in color but the light tan is kinda a more realistic skin tone for a realastic ns for my taste.

i don't see the dolls as dolls of color, I see them as dolls, iplehouse make some nice dark skined dolls, bobobie make a dark tan too whice i saw a great looking tiah on doa very pretty resin big eyes very cute doll.

my son looks like a surfer kid, long blonde straight hair past his shoulders, big blue gray eyes, and he is getting a bobobie eric soon in light tan as he thought the ns was too pale, he is wanting a tiny version of himself to dress like him in his cosplay costumes so his eric will eventually have a normal long monique wig, and then eventually a braided monique wig to be him as edward elric. (oh joy i get to make a tiny version of that costume ;)

he will probably get a pokemon trainer outfit too as his other doll he is getting is a df lolo to be painted like a pokemon he has in mind for eric's pet.

my doll is posted on a doa thread called not enough tan dolls or something close to that, it is filled with light and dark tan dolls and it's nothing but positive comments and lots of photos on the skin tones. but i guess thats the point of that thread was only people who like/ own dolls in tan shades. i personally don't care if a doll is gray, purple, blue, brown, white if it's pretty it's pretty and a doll is a doll i buy what i like i don't care what others opinions are but i am an introvert and i am like that lol.

It's already been very well said, so I don't need to say more, but as to my own collection I have but a few tanned tinies - resins, but to go my 1/6 group and have far more dark and tanned dolls. I was afraid to get them in resin as I do attack the seams and couldn't be bothered to sand the whole doll especially when they have a custom face up. I'm not keen on beauty white as I find it hard to photograph. Normal Skin is fine and have quite a few of those, but I so LOVE the dark skin. I want loads of dolls in the huge variety of shades.

As to odd colours, I like them all just don't own them all. I'd love a rainbow collection of tinies. That would be fun.

As far as humans go, I tend not to notice people's colour unless they have flame red hair, wear dreds, or beads or have outrageous coloured hair like me! I don't mean this in a rude way, it's just that wacky gets my attention because I'm drawn to that. I have friends that are so straight they find it hard to accept the wacky ones. I seem to be the balancer in the middle. We were only talking about it today. My friends just accept me... but then we're talking face to face relationships and anything on a board like this is just words.

Errica you KNOW I'm all FOR you! So don't let the buggers get you down. If they had any sense they'd stick a sock in their gobs and hush up! Silly little people. I work with horrid silly, small and narrow minded, ignorant dim wits. I have to tone down my appearance for work. How stifling is that?! But when I'm me and out and about, Yippee!!! I'm free of their daft constraints. The sad thing is... they are so locked into having to be part of the crowd, they're unable to truly express their individuality... that's if they had any. I truly wonder if they do. Poor ninnies. Oh and there I went and snubbed the little half brains when I said I wouldn't. Ooops!

Let's celebrate diversity... it makes me happy. Oooh was that off topic? DOA is a pain in it's behind sometimes, but I still love the tiny section there and it's a great source of info when needed. Not everyone there is a twit.

Personally, I look at "tanned" dolls, like DZ tan, etc as more of an exotic tan, or out in the sun too long, tan. The Asian or other ethnic feel tends to only come with the appearance of the doll's other features (eyes, facial structure, etc). I've only come across two company's tans that made me think "black" (not that I really care about skin color o_O It's all about "if your nice to me and mine, I'll be nice to you and yours" - "yours" being family/friends). I wish there were more, just to celebrate ethnicity of all types - I think it's awesome to have "white" all the way into "tanned"... and then pink and green and blue and so on. Just keep in mind that there companies are majority Asia - and I've seen light skinned to rather dark tanned as a natural tone (my friend being a prime example), and I think it was the lighter the tone, the more beautiful? Or was that just India? o_O. Their inclined to do what they see every day, if not by instinct, so I wouldn't take it personally.
That and the "Asian Aesthetic" makes the money sing.

As for anything that might have been said on DoA in that topic that was racially offensive... come on. o_O It's DoA. It's kinda like someone amassed the 13 year olds of the world into one spot. I'd take them with a grain of salt, if their not talking about the technical difficulties of working with resin that is tan. Even if they're in their 20s, it doesn't mind their mindset is their age.

I'm personally not a fan of super pale/white skinned dolls, even with my sickly lil Apollo. Something about it is just... too pale - and I speak from a color palette point of view, not a skin point of view  I really like dolls with some color on them! <3 tans...

Randomly aside...
In the notion of unconsciously emulating what your used to/emulating yourself that I think someone else mentioned...
I'm a very pale and dark haired person (it's the Irish paleness and Italian dark hair o_O) - but I tend to create characters with tans (and then I try to doll-ify them OTL.... "try") or go after the dolls with color (like the "Black Luke" that I posted in the "what doll would you love to have" or something like that, thread). My characters pretty much all have red hair or blonds/very light colored hair (I have 4 red heads and two white haired dolls o_O) and all male. So I guess, ironically, I do the exact opposite of myself (also, ironically, my avatar has both those colors and light eyes, as well as a male face set o_O).
It makes me debate the monkey see, monkey do in the subconsciousness, but oh well.

It's seam lines and greening for me. But until the Japanese start putting darker colored complexions on their anime characters, the monkey-see-monkey-do DoA animekiddies won't like tan.

If the Japanese do, well suddenly everyone will want them.

Although not the most popular skin tone in animes there are a few, these are the main ones from my daughters animes they have here that i remember off hand that were not listed in the list i found below.
Momo Adachi
Peach Girl
The main character. She has tanned skin and light hair (derived from her constant swimming in chlorinated pools while on the swim team).

Princess Glenda of the demon world
Petite Princess Yucie
As Princess of the Demon World, Glenda is fiercely competitive and has strong magical powers. She immediately butts heads with Yucie, her rival to become the Platinum Princess. Glenda is a braggart who frequently proclaims herself as "fantastic" and "elegant," and is also often selfish, jealous, and temperamental. But she has a sweet side which she tries to hide, and eventually becomes very close friends with Yucie (perhaps, even overly-protective of her), even though she's loathe to admit it.

Hideaki Asaba
Kare Kano (His and her circumstances)
PROFILE - Asaba is one of the most popular boys in school and Arima's best friend. Caring more about girls, body-boarding and getting a sun tan than anything else, many wonder how he got into Hokuei Prefectural High School.

and this is a list o found of a few of the others: (makes you think there would be atleast a few more tan dolls out there)

I would have more tan dolls, if they weren't so darn hard to get a hold of. >.> I swear, Volks must hate their tan dollfies or something, because they only have two tan headmolds, and their beauty line doesn't come in tan at all. As for Obitsu, well, if the existence of them on Jspot ever overlapped with my having money, I'd probably pick one up, but they're rather rare (and again, less headmolds - no prerooted ones in tan). I can't comment on the resins, since I don't own any, but I would love a tan Lishe - sadly, they were limited, and even if I do find one, it would probably cost a million dollars or something. *sigh* It would be great to have an Egyptian princess or something... Right now, I'm just wishing that Obitsu would interpret black a little less literally, and make the 50cm in normal skintone.

On another note, those "Beauty White" dolls must be insanely pale. I mean, the whiteskin Obitsu I have is even paler than my pasty butt, and she's supposed to be normal? The "white" ones must all look like vampires!
