Scents safe for vinyl BJDs?

Postby DollyKim » Wed Nov 23, 2022 8:17 am

Is there something I can use to make my Volks Mini Dollfie Dream smell nice? I have baking soda, Fabreeze, soap making scents, and cinnamon powder at hand.

I can't quite describe the smell, it's really strong in her original box, maybe devil's lettuce with a hint of must, but not exactly new doll unless that's just what Volks smell like. She's had a bath and is airing out, gonna keep her in something else now, but when I'm carrying her I really notice it and it's not pleasant.

This is going to sound strange, but you might try rubbing rubbing her down with pure vanilla extract. (The good stuff, not the imitation.) My grandmother swears by it to take the funky smells out of Tupperware, so maybe it would work here? Just put some in a paper towel or cotton ball and rubb it in, though definitely try it somewhere that won't be seen first just to make sure it doesn't react to the doll. You can also mix some into some water and put in a spray bottle to try spritzing the box down with. Again, don't know if it helps dolls, but it's worth a shot.
