Dollhouses!

Not sure if this should go in Misc Scale or not, but whatever. Anyone here have dollhouse miniatures? 1" scale, 1/2", whatever floats your boat :3
I've got four houses technically. Ones a work in progress (a lovely Victorian inhabited by a mad scientist), one's half dead and waiting to be fixed up, one's a roombox, and one's a lovely old scratch-built house my grandpa made for my great-grandma (his mother in law). And my grandmom, the one who got me into the hobby as a wee lil thing, has a few roomboxes and one large gorgeous house, built by her father, and furnished over the years with hand made and store bought tiny bits and things. There's just so much in it, I went room-by-room the other day to photograph it.

I really need to update the album, and redecorate the dollhouse as it's in a bit of a slump, but I keep many of my Littles contained in here http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u270 ... Dollhouse/ Found the house wandering outside of a Salvation Army store, a similar one turned up on the Sears website a few years ago.

There's more traditional sized stuff in the garage, somewhere under my smother's stuff, but I have no cat safe room to display it right now.

I'm just getting my toes wet with dollhouse stuff. My ex put together a lovely multi-story Victorian for our daughter when she was young and it's still over his place. I'm torn between bringing it it here to use and leaving it be. it's just growing cob webs now, but I will probably need to do some renovations and I'm not sure how keen the kidlet is on having a floor section of her dollhouse taken out and having the outside made to look abandoned . . .

So, I have my eye on a couple small Greenleaf houses. My husband has shown some interest in putting them together and maybe working with me to customize the looks to be more Tudor or medieval than Victorian (as most of them are). I've already started collecting wood furniture, but I think I'm leaning more toward getting unfinished lots and painting them myself. So what I have already might be going the way of the Swap Meet, Marketplace or Ebay.

I actually don't even have a tiny yet. I'm contemplating one of the JS Nissa females for now, though I'm saving up for a Sleeping Elf Moona tiny. I foresee several tinies in my future.

Yes SLP, please let us see your dolls house. I've been fascinated by dolls houses for years, but never had the time, money or space to put one. Still haven't really, but I'm determined. I remember going to the Museum of Childhood http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/collections/dolls_houses/index.html years ago and wanting to play with all the dolls houses behind the glass . . .

Currently I'm on a project for my Puki girls ~ when it gets along a bit further I'll post a few pictures, but until then I'll keep everyone in suspense!

Dollykim, I think I've seen yours before, its pretty neat Makes me wanna pull out the old cardboard Barbie house I had. If only there was room for it ><
Kirahfaye, that big victorian sounds gorgeous! Oh, have you tried looking at www.miniatures.com? They have some pretty nice kits, including alot of Tudor style ones. The Glencroft is my fave, will have to make a pirate pub out of it one day...
Medieval, that museum looks awesome D: Think I've seen one of those houses in a magazine before. The older houses are always so interesting, with all those tiny accessories and details.

The industrious can put their own together as well or trick the heck out of a kit. Look for pamphlets from the companies, I discovered a pair called 'Dollhouses to Dreamhouses' that show how to turn their kits in to all sorts of stuff, from putting two houses together to building a seaside cliff for it. Jean Nesbit has some stunning books, the cafe and shop one is drool worthy, and Angie Scarr has a pair of polymer clay food books for making your own Re Ment, or the western food they don't. The International Dollhouse Book totally rules with plans for a gypsy wagon, Swiss chalet, traditional Japanese house...


Somewhere after Roger and finihing the Duck Tape TARDIS I might get around to a wagon for my tinies.

My grandmom saw the Fairy Castle years ago on the old Steel Pier at Atlantic City, I think thats what started her miniatures hobby. Must be amazing in person, pictures just make me want to crawl in and look at everything.
