My brain has informed me that I must buy 1:6 dollies. In the last 2 months I have bought ~60 of them :o  :? And I bought 3 more today. It started with overpriced Monster High dolls and has grown to include thrift stored Bratz, My Scene (I'm giving in to my long suppressed love for them - I want at least one of every character and apparently as many Chelseas as I find!), random muscle men and Barbieiods. I've been diligently swapping heads, hot glueing, applying Twin Pines, Sculpting, beading, face painting, Dremeling and creating backstory. So far I've been having lots of fun, but no finished dolls yet. Some are very close, but no cigar. I hope to start putting the finishing touches on modding and costuming soon and have something to show for my effort other than a random pile of naked dolls and hacked apart body parts (which are telling me to save them and make jewelry out of them

will my hoarding never end?)
And where am I going to store them? The shelf I cleared in anticipation is filled and the rest of the dolls are head down in bags shoved in a cardboard box!

This is the closest I've seen in dimension to my dollhouse http://www.fingerhut.com/ProductGroup.a ... r6h7nPUekn Which is slightly larger than the Kidcraft and Imaginarium ones at Toys R Us. The one at Target is only about 2/3 as wide as mine. Skip the furniture they sell, it's ugly. Most of mine is Sweet Home a Gloria knock off.

You can go the shelf route, the plastic garage storage shelf I have for my books is a good height, at least 14" between shelves. Roughly you can start with plans for a 1/12 dollhouse you like, double the measurements, and go from there. I am hoping to do some dollhouse work next year for my big project.

I would love to have the space for a dollhouse. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to have to go for the over the door holder option and swap out dolls on the display space. Do you remember where you got the instructions for your doll holders? It would be a bonus to make them and use up some fabric stash that hasn't aged well.

I'm going to have to get out my old Gabriel Lone Ranger "Silver" and compare him to my old Marx "Noble Knights" horse. That would be a great one to use IF it works for 1/6 scale.

On doll houses and similar structures... I like the idea of using those heavy plastic storage shelves as a base structure. I had planned some years ago to build a headquarters reminiscent of the old GI Joe HQ from the '70s using those shelves and stuff like thin plywood, high density styrofoam, clear acrylic and Corriflute for walls, floors and other details. I hadn't thought of it in some years until reading this thread jarred my memory but it still seems like a good idea.

My fabric holders are from an old sewing pattern with a tent, tote, and sleeping bag, the other two are Barbie (kind of crappy). They aren't hard to figure out, just pleat some pockets and sew hem in a row. Kind of like shoe pockets but not so deep. If for example the dolls need 4" of personal space for the base of the pocket then the pocket its self would be 5-6" with a pleated or gathered bottom. Another design I saw was doll sleeping bags attached to a backing with velcro.

Still buying more dolls! I found 2 more Liv dolls for hybridizing and some other misc dolls. I think one is a High School Musical boy. I've ripped off his legs, I just need to break off the pegs and drill a hole. I'm going to put jointy, flat foot, orange/tan Barbie legs on him. They won't match his coffee and cream color, but he can wear pants for a chance to have bendy legs. While I've got the Dremel out, I'll deepen the front of his hip so he can sit better.
