Kitty turned out to be INSIDE my sleeper sofa. He has come out a few times, but then he goes back in again and occasionally gets stuck ....sigh...cats can be so stupid.

My Madge hides under my bed during times of stress. I speak calmly to her but don't make a big deal about it. When she comes out I make a fuss about her doing a more desirable pussycat behavior.

If kitty needs a hiding place to feel safe maybe offer a dark cat bed or box with a treat inside?

YOU SURVIVED!!!
And YAY- minus a bunch of extraneous stuff you needed to get rid of anyway. Must feel nice.

When we had had our kitten for just a couple of days he disappeared. We tore the house apart looking for him. We didn't think there was any way he could have gotten outside but went out a number of times calling him anyway. We were afraid somehow he got out and a hawk got him or something.

Called and called and called and called and called.

SIX HOURS LATER, he came sauntering out of my daughter's bedroom, like..."No big deal..did you call me?" Turns out there was a hole in the cover on the underside of her box spring, and he had wiggled through that hole and had I guess been napping in there all day. We had looked under the bed probably five times.

Fortunately Micheletto seems to have decided that the new place isn't so scary anymore. He's out and about more and he actually ate his breakfast this morning! I was really worried about his not eating - he's not exactly an overweight cat (though he is normally a pig). By last night he was begging for cheese off my pizza so he's definitely better :)

Cirque, the only reason I found him inside the couch was that AFTER I went to bed and JUST as I was falling asleep I heard him start to cry. I followed the sound to the couch and pulled it partially open. Honestly, I still really don't know how he squeezed in there.

He took a wrong turn in Albuquerque.

Oh your poor cat! It's always so hard seeing your babies being afraid :/ Good luck at your new place though!

After my former husband passed, "our" cat, Mollie, did the same thing as Momieh's. We all though she had somehow gotten out of the house because she wouldn't even come when her human (my daughter) called her; but we later found her hiding place and closed off that room.

I'm glad you found him and he seems to be getting accustomed to his new place.
