Mini bandannas and an additional treat!

Postby WhiteDove01s » Mon Jun 22, 2015 3:24 pm

These are something for dolls (although they could be used for full size projects too), but since they're not dolls themselves I figured posting here is the most sensible option.

I got my first big swatch book from Spoonflower. It took a long time to cut the latest bunch of mini 1/6-scale bandannas apart and prep pictures, and I still haven't hemmed them. Here's a group shot of all the new colors now for sale!

There are more pictures on my blog (http://playscaletheater.dreamwidth.org/3094.html), including one of the full lot of swatches before they were cut apart (and, in which you can see the failed ginghams and rainbow plaid that just didn't work out this time.)

Additionally, here's the 'bonus' of this lot, a miniature confetti print! Cindy is holding the swatch for size comparison.

So, I still have about nine open spaces on the next swatch book, if anyone wants to suggest a print that really needs to exist in 1/6th scale. (Polka dots, two geometric patterns so far, and corrected ginghams are already in there. And I have a few other ideas in the works.)

Oh, yes, about that confetti print? The next swatch book will include it on a black background as a variant. And, as a bonus, I'm going to do both in fullscale size too. Normally, I wouldn't wriggle out of scale, but I really just like this one.

Oh wow, the confetti print really did print well. Those are some really fine details.

*peeks in from working on plaids* Thanks! I actually did it full-sized (well, a little larger than), and then scaled it down. Which is why I already have the graphics saved for full-sized versions. I can hardly wait to see how it looks when I make it into some kind of skirt or party dress for Amy. An 8x8" swatch isn't much, but she's a Barbie Stacie doll, so I have better chance of making her something nice from the sample.

The Evil Overlord also thinks it'd make great wrapping paper. XD

Speaking of him, I am also trying VERY hard to make the World's Smallest Houndstooth print. (It's being a surprisingly tricky one.)

Thanks! The first one I think took about a week to get the graphic right, and I still wasn't sure Spoonflower could handle the tiny details until I got the first swatch back. (Even then, I pushed it right to the edge, as the ginghams later proved XD)

Of course, now all I have to do is go in with the color replacer tool to add more bandanna colors. XD

Here's a nice closeup of one of the yellow ones I took. The only things giving away the scale are the size of the threads and the edge of my thumb in the shot. XD
