"Yue Sai Wa Wa" Dolls...

hi there again, everyone.

i just recently stumbled upon this line of Chinese fashion dolls,
fairly unremarkable to me, save for their very nice (IMHO) clothing.

for one exceptional example, i just won this particular one off the BAY for around $22.65 shipped, all for her seemingly lavish Japanese feudal-era Princess Kimono;








- since this appears to be generally Barbie-sized, i am banking upon the dress fitting my 27cm. OBITSU-based SAMURAI SPIRITS Nakoruru;




- i've been looking for a lavish kimono such as this one for her for a long time, and this is the first i've found that appears to meet or exceed my standards, and the first i've found for a reasonable price.

in any case, anyone have any experience to share on this apparently lavishly dressed line of Chinese Dolls? i've looked into them online, and, while there isn't much on them, there was enough to see that this is hardly the only doll the company made that is so exceptionally dressed...

so, as it turned out, this Barbie-like "Yue Sai" doll was indeed pretty much exactly Barbie sized. to the degree that i'm under the impression
that her body is in fact a direct knock off of MATTEL's standard vanilla original body design.

of course, that means... that there ain't no way the kimono will fit my Nakoruru's far shorter, slender, more delicately-proportioned OBITSU body, Alas.

all the same, all's not lost by even half; the kimono seems to fit my 1/5 TSUKUDA HOBBY "Shaorin Shichiri" as if it was made for her.
she's an unusual scale, much taller than the average Barbie, but with otherwise very similar general proportions.

she's a rare doll, even in Japan. she's from the little-known-in-the-west late-90's Manga/Anime series "Mamotte Shugogetten"
my copy of her is in fact a customized amalgam, with longer legs than the average, and double-jointed elbows,
both features taken from a TSUKUDA HOBBY ToHeart "Akari Kamigishi"

both entries in TH's ToHeart doll line possess double-elbow joints that no other doll in TH's extensive "Full Action Doll Series"
character doll line seems to share, and the Akari, for whatever reason, has legs a good inch or two longer
than any other. this all seems to complement lady "Shao" just fine. i made her garter, tabi socks and hair ribbon myself;

Loo! I really love her! I shall have to look into those dolls, and why have I never thought of putting my Nakoruru on an Obitsu body? great tips! thank you!

it really makes all the difference in the world. Nakorin's facial skintone
doesn't quite match up to the N skin OBITSU, unfortunately. all the same, to me, at least,
her overall appearance and newfound posability more than make up for that;





things get even better if you can track down a 1/6 replica Katana set
such as the one i had found for her sometime ago ;

You might want to check out 'broider' dolls from China. I actually just bought one in hopes of using her clothing for my Mulan doll's wedding 'attire.' (I know in ancient China, they mostly wore red robes for weddings, but I'm making/gathering together a set of 13 wedding outfits for my Disney Princesses and I don't want Mulan to stick out in red, while the rest are in white!)


They are 12" tall but that includes their heads, headdresses and hair which is always 'up' so I'm thinking they're shorter/smaller than 'Barbie' dolls. I figure, I'll most likely have to add onto the bottom of the gown to have it trailing on the ground for Mulan, but for an Obitsu---it might just be the right size. I asked a seller the size from the neck to the feet and they responded the dolls are 9" from that point to that point.

There all types, colors, styles of these Asian dolls! I like how the print/brocade is very 1/6 scale!

Once I get the 'White Snake' broider doll I purchased, I'll let you know how the fit is compared to Mulan (Disney Store body) and an Obitsu 27cm female body.

You might want to check out 'broider' dolls from China...

i had one of those once, several years back, that i had found for $5.00/$6.00 at my local GOODWILL.
it had a $495.00 price label on the bottom, which i can only assume was $495HKD.

it looked all right and all. the trouble, however, was that the "Kimono" was a series of separate sections of fabric
glued and pinned to a rudimentary styrofoam "body"

i eventually dismantled mine, and found that there just wasn't enough fabric there
to actually assemble the separate parts into a complete wearable kimono,
far too many shortcuts were taken.

i do not know for certain of the dolls in that search you gave me are the made the same,
but from a glance, the certainly appear to be...

I was about to say they look like modern Bradley or Lovely Pose dolls. They were made as cheaply as possible with and the outfits aren't supposed to come off.

indeed, they're decorative pieces and nothing more, so sad...
