Almost all my 60cm (SD) dolls are DD/Obitsu/Resin hybrids.
However, the DD heads I use are the type with the handpainted eyes (I prefer them for anime characters rather than eyehole heads since you can make the dolls look EXACTLY like the characters with painted eyes and not just 'almost' them with the eyehole eyes.)
I think we have about 36 SD like this? Yes, just about that number, give or take one or two.
My anime girls are all Obitsu 60cm bodies WS, with Volks DD Custom hair head NS heads.
My anime boys are all ResinSoul 70cm NS with Volks DD Custom Hair head NS heads.
My sister's anime girls are all Obitsu 60cm bodies WS, with Parabox WS Anime heads (discontinued style). Her boys are all the same, but with Resinsoul 61cm bodies or Obitsu male 60cm bodies. (I think she has one 70cm RS boy body with a Parabox Anime head and one 64cm Nobility Doll boy boy with the Parabox Anime head.
We have one Dollfie Dream NS body with a Parabox WS Anime head on it. The DD body is much more beautiful than the Obitsu 60cm body but it's floppier, an inch shorter and the neck is thicker. I loved her (she was originally mine) but I passed her on to my sis, because her girl chara is supposed to be 'shorter' and I didn't care for the thicker neck. It's not bad by itself, but when you put it next to the Obitsu 60cm girls, they look slimmer and more....animelike? The DD could be a realistic person....almost. ^^ :laughs:
Umm, I'd say if you are looking for beauty rather than poseability, the Dollfie Dream is more lovely to look at. She even looks more 'natural' in poses. The Obitsu always seem a bit 'stiff.'
BUT the DD is ultra floppy (she will NEED a stand!). I know that Volks doesn't really offer internal parts for the DD, but I find that they rarely, if ever, break. At least the few I've had (I sold several I didn't need anymore.) And this one we still have is about 10 years old and she's not shown one symptom of breakage or damage. Just floppy kneed, but they come that way, pretty much.
Now, our Obitsu 60cm----we have over 25 and they are almost ALL broken or have broken and needed new parts. Maybe Obitsu sells parts because the dolls are prone to breakage?
So they both have good and bad----the Obitsu are more anime-like and sturdy in a pose. (Almost to the point of stiffness.)
The Volks are more natural looking, but are super floppy.
I've had both and the DD has never broken in 10 years, while the Obitsu break joints/connectors quite often.
Yet, we have 25 Obitsu 60cm and only 1 Volks DD right now. ^^ So........
