Sick of Superbowl

Postby Greyhaunt » Sun Feb 01, 2015 5:20 pm

Mind you I don't particularly care for most sports most of the time (though I am partial to hockey) or the Superbowl in particular anytime, but this year it's worse than most years. Because this year it's in my backyard, so to speak.

I live in Phoenix. For the past month all I've heard on the radio, tv and in conversations is Superbowl this, Superbowl that. Gas prices have jumped up and where I live isn't even close to where the stupid game is going to be played! They shut down the entire downtown area for normal traffic (luckily I don't work there anymore) and even local grocery stores have set up "football experience" playgrounds in their already too small parking lots.

I'd like to think that it will all end tonight, but probably I'll spend the next month listening to reports on how much damage happened where, how much cleanup cost and how long it took, who saw whom where and how much money we really didn't make out of the deal.

Oh, and how bad the game was, because it seems like the games always suck no matter how big the hype.

sigh...for now I'm just waiting for the neighbors to all start screaming at their TVs as they watch and for the dumpsters to fill to bursting with empty 24pk boxes.

Maybe gas prices will go down again next week....I can always hope...

I avoid most of it by not having broadcast TV. We went out to eat and are now watching Rosenmaiden!

Sounds like a bit of nightmare :(

The only sports thing that happens near(it) to me is Wimbledon, and so long as I remember to avoid the area for the two weeks it's not too bad. I do still get the screaming at TVs sometimes when some apparently important football match is on.

This seems like a good as place as any to drop this old-ish comic…

Thankfully my family isnt really into sports. We check in to see the score but otherwise we just enjoy our Chili and family time. xD

Very happy to say I do not have a television in my room. In fact, the only working TV in the house is a little portable the Evil Overlord has. The few TV shows I watch I catch online. If it hadn't been for a few passing mentions on the 'net I wouldn't have even known it was that time of year again. Glad it's over tho!
