Broken Dollfie Dream question

Postby Astrid » Mon Nov 08, 2010 6:42 pm

So I have my DD now and I cant post pictures till I get my camera back this weekend. The person I bought it from had pictures of it but they removed the pictures from the sales post.

Its broken. :o Which I did know before I bought it.

It says that its missing 'the connector piece'

What ever that is I am not quite sure but she has a sort of jimmy rigged wire sticking up from the base of the neck.

It came with a haruka head which I wanted to switch out with a DD head

...I am just hoping that if I get the new head it will connect okay..

SO my question without pictures , to people who have DD heads, what does the bottom of the head look like and how is the head cap help in place? Is it like a haruka head that just sorta pops in to the other part?

^^

The hole in the head of the DD is smaller, just a tiny round circle actually. However, it's within an 'indent' in the head so it goes onto the neck smoothly and fully.

DD heads are sort of similar to the Haruka head, but the hole is much smaller. I put DD heads onto resin bodies and Obitsu bodies by carving the 'hole' bigger but it should still work for your body, since you say it's got a wire rigged up? That will go into the DD head hole, but you may need some sort of donut or (a heavy duty chain link is what I use in lieu of that donut thing) something to keep the head on, since the 'screw' peg is missing. (The Volks DD neck connector is sort of 'screw' like)

Yes, the headcap on the DD is like the Haruka/Gretel/Sheba, etc, BUT it's HARD to get on! I always have to cut slits and/or use a hair dryer to soften the vinyl before the head cap will pop into place. It's a pain when you have the eyes 'just so' and then find out in your struggle to get the head cap on, the eyes moved!!!!! ^^;;

Thank you for your response.

hmm okay so it sounds like I am in for some work when I get the head. Yes there is a wire sticking out of the neck with a little curve to it. The haruka head was on there but it was sorta floppy..

I was wanting to put glass eyes in to the head but to do you think they would be to heavy since my head wont be properly anchored?

eek..spilt the head cap?Okay well I still have time to arm myself with knowledge before I bring out the scapel lol...

If you are putting the Haruka head on the DD2 body, you can use the Obitsu neck piece, old style or new style, it doesn't matter. Although the older style with the "rings" on the base makes inserting it more difficult (but not impossible). Remove the chest vinyl from the doll and insert the Obitsu neck piece into the DD2 neck vinyl from the top. Removing the chest vinyl from the doll will allow you to really push on the chest without worrying about breaking a skeleton piece inside and since Volks doesn't sell skeleton pieces, breaking the DD2 internals would be really bad. It will be a VERY tight fit and you might want to use your hair dryer to get the neck piece in there, but it will fit. The neck piece won't attach to the DD2 skeleton, but the DD2 neck vinyl is stiff enough to hold the Haruka (or other vinyl head) head on firmly without floppiness. That's how the heads (Haruka and Gretel)are on my DD2's.

It should actually be fine as the DD head hole is smaller than the Haruka's, so the wire connector should hold it on decently, I think ^^. (Better than it's holding on Haruka, I'd guess. ^^)

I was wanting to put glass eyes in to the head but to do you think they would be to heavy since my head wont be properly anchored?

I think you can put glass eyes, even with the wire connector. Only thing is, the eyeholes on the DD are HUGE. You'll need gigantic glass eyes, at least 20-22mm and those may look a bit odd if their whites are big. (DD heads need big iris eyes) What size eyes were you considering?

Thanks for the replies!

Yes its a DD head I want to get to put on the body. It came with a haruka head but I am not going to use that.

The eye size I have no clue since I have never had a DD before. I guess I will try out some of the eyes I have here which the biggest is 20 mm for a hujoo in acrylic and 18mm in glass. If the DD heads are light then I guess the little wire will work..
