I'm actually seriously confused about why Mamoru is CONSTANTLY in a tux in this reboot...i forget how the first few manga go, but was he always dressed like that? I mean Usagi does pick up on it in the first episode, but here he is again, on the street in black tie formal...

He didn't in the first anime,

but I pulled out my manga to check, and yeah he's walking around in a full tux whenever we see him in the first few chapters, lol.

I believe he is the jewel thief they mentioned in the first episode. Since he's searching for the crystals and all. So, chances are he's been Tuxedo Kamen way before Sailor Moon showed up. He probably shows up when she does by coincidence, hoping to find the jewel and thus the princess.

As Stormlight-san says, he is the jewel thief and so 'Tuxedo Mask' was his alias already as the thief.
But he shouldn't be dressed in his phantom thief attire during the day, right?!

In PGSM, he was an actor and they were shooting outdoor scenes, so that's why he's all dressed up in the streets.


So maybe they are going with him being an actor and thus the formal wear all the time?

Also, I noticed in the fight in ep. 2, in the manga Sailor Moon used her hair-feather thingies as darts, but she didn't do that in the anime!

Episode 3 was great! I'm really happy with it.

It WAS great! I really like Mars in this series. She's a lot less of a bitch, much more like her manga counterpart. They did a lot of changes to this episode, too! The first full look at Queen Beryl (and she's actually kinda pretty in this series; she looked like a snake in the last one), and the first appearance of Nephrite and Zoicite (much earlier here, or maybe because there were so many less episodes to reach this point).

I thought it interesting how Jadeite seemed so fascinated with Rei. As I recall, wasn't he her former lover in the Moon Kingdom? Because I'm a sucker for the whole forbidden romance thing, I'd LOVE for them to play up on that some more, with him and the other three kings. I have no idea how far they carried that in the manga since I only read like the first four volumes and forget most of it. I suspect this might've been Jadeite's last appearance, though.

One thing I think I'll miss is the little story that happens between Naru and Nephrite. I really liked that mini-arc, and how Nephrite sacrificed himself for her, but given the pace Crystal is moving at, there probably won't be any room for it. It probably wasn't in the manga to begin with.

Really looking forward to episode 4 now. The masquerade!

Hey! I liked how Queen Beryl looked in the first series!

Not that I'm arguing she's much prettier in Crystal. But liked her first version as well.

(I don't know if you can tell that Queen Beryl is one of my favorite characters... XD )
