Crochet dolls

Instead of legs she has a pillow form skirt from a calendar bed doll pattern. We haven't decided on which dress yet. The stitches are supposed to be loose and lacy like that, I added a couple of rows on the bottom to make sure she'd be tall enough.

I... am in constant awe whenever I see a post of one of your projects. You are amazingly talented, you know that? Like, seriously, I could only day-dream about doing the stuff you can pull off. I love how your crocheted doll looks. Given her shoulder to waist ratio, the historian in me is suggestion - and please tell me if I'm being rude by suggesting - a Victorian era inspired outfit?

Thank you. This skirt form is from the 1995 Edwardian inspired set. They aren't the most accurate things in the world but compared to other years they're more authentic, and they have the smallest skirts so less work.

The Annie's Attic crochet patterns should fit your doll in your avatar and it's a great way to learn thread crochet. Historical accuracy is hit and miss, and you have to hunt carefully for reasonable prices for the Calendar Bed Doll Society patterns, but most of the stitches are simple and worth knowing.

Finished the skirt, having to rest my crochet muscles before I do the top part. I added the color changes and did doubles and trebles in place of repeated single crochet rows to speed things up, and stuffed the skirt instead of using a separate form, otherwise I followed the pattern. It's supposed to be circa 1900.

I like the look of the doubles and trebles, they give the skirt a nice effect.

Thanks Made the dickie. And I just realized I goofed on a row, the ridges should be consistent all the way across. Well, it gives it a little something something, doesn't it?

All finished, I improvised the hat after starting with their pattern.

I love the colors, very subtle. The dickie looks good under the coat, the one row that was off is not very visible.

Will you be making her a wig to go under the hat?
