Obitsu posing qustion

Postby quidam » Wed Jun 11, 2014 8:55 am

Are the larger Obitsu dolls capable of sitting with their knees to their chests? Are they able to rest their heads on their own knees with their arms encircling their legs?

I know my smaller 23 cm can't, but I don't know if they are made the exact same way or not.

Non-posing related question: does anyone know if a SQlabs head is easily compatible with Obitsu body?

Yes and no. (Was that vague enough?) Some of the 50cms can. Their more flexible spine allows bent backs. The versions with thinner vinyl chests and torso have less material to get in the way of such bends. Larger bust sizes can also prevent such deep bends. The chest walls are thicker in the larger bust so they don't squish as much as the medium and small bust.

Don't know off hand. I'll look into this later when I'm home with them.

The larger Obitsus (40cm and up) are constructed entirely different than the 1/6 scale bodies. The larger Obitsus have a hard plastic internal skeleton that supports all the weight and does all the bending. The skeleton is covered with soft hollow vinyl parts except at some joints (like elbows, knees, etc.) where you can see the joints. The soft vinyl allows some "crushing" when two surfaces contact each other, such as your legs to the chest bend.

I don't have any SQ Labs heads but it's my understanding they are frequently used on Dollfie Dream bodies, which are a bit larger/taller than the 60cm Obitsu body. However size-wise they would not look out of place as anime style characters generally have larger heads compared to their bodies. Skin match would be the thing to watch for. Volks (Dollfie Dreams) normal is a close match for Obitsu white skin, so look for what ever color SQ Labs says matches Dollfie Dream normal.

Thanks for the reply!!!
I was actually leaning toward the 50 cm body, so that might work out.

As for the SQlab head, I only recently discovered them and was smitten, but sometimes my love is fleeting. So, I'm not diving into that one quite yet.

This is about as close as it gets. Except for her ears, tail, and Haruka head (none of which affect her posing ability), Miyuki is a stock medium bust Obitsu 50cm.

The soft abdomen deforms (unseen under her clothes) allowing the upper thighs to push into the torso. Her upper arms are just a bit too short to have her forearms wrap perfectly around her knees. I could separate her "humerus" from her shoulder joint and slide the elbow out of the upper arm vinyl a little, but that would be cheating (What? Me cheat? Never!). As you can see, this pose would be next to impossible for a larger busted girl. Sorry Anna Marie.
