The Joy of being married to a doll collector...

Postby TheHighlander » Mon Oct 25, 2010 10:33 pm

I had a fun weekend and thought I would share a funny story from the weekend. We went to visit my in-laws this weekend, and decided to take our 60cm girls with us. So I packed up Mariko, my Obitsu 60, and Misheru packed up her Dollfie Dream Dynamite and Dollfie Dream.

When we arrived we unpacked and decided to set up the girls on display. A little later we decided to redress them in some swimsuits - they were on a long weekend after all... As we were redressing, brushing hair, putting in hair clips and the like, my mother-in-law walked by and was a little freaked out by the sight of her son-in-law redressing a 60cm doll with quite large breasts...LOL! Well, we got them all dressed in their swimsuits. Mariko was wearing a Yellow halter bikini with a matching skirt. She has a Parabox large bust, and so, the thin, and now fully stretched, bikini was no match for her, so she featured two outstanding points. I thought my Father-in-law's eyes were going to pop out of his head when he saw her, along with Misheru's DDD Miu standing next to her wearing an equally tight one-piece.

Later on in the evening, we were redressing the ladies again for bed. This traveling with dolls and redressing them for the various things you do during the day is actually quite a lot of fun. Well, we had three short, white, lacy night dresses. Mariko's one is more of a lacy slip than a night gown, but it looks great, so it will do nicely. It's lace on the top, so it really didn't cover much there, but it did look very much like a satin night dress/chemise. Anyway, while I'm dressing Mariko, in walks Father-in-law who wanted to talk about something. I'm afraid I might have freaked him out as I simply kept working, pulling up her panties and then putting on her chemise.

Perhaps I'm just a bit evil, but I enjoyed freaking him out. I decided that the best thing about it was that there i am sharing an interest with my wife, which brings us closer together, all the while freaking out people who automatically assume certain things about male doll collectors. Ah well, that's his problem, not mine, as long as he can accept that Misheru and I share a hobby, it's all golden.

Then the fun began.

We put the dolls to bed. Misheru had her girls reclining together on a cushion, but poor Mariko had no where to sleep, so I found her a cushion and a fluffy towel for cover. I tried various poses over the next couple of hours, each time I came back to the room, I'd try a different position because I just didn't like how she was laying, she looked uncomfortable. Then I realized that she's an Obitsu, and can do things other dolls can't. So she ended up curled up into a fetal position with her head tucked in close and one hand covering her face, and the other clutching at the back of her thigh. I found as I was altering her position that in my head it was like a little narrative was forming where Mariko was having trouble getting to sleep, and so I tucked her in and she curled up under her cover. Actually, she looked incredibly cute, I wish I had take pictures of the evening, it would have been fun watching the progression of position. Misheru then added a cover for her girls and the trio were ready for sleep.

In the morning, I decided to have a bit more fun and altered Mariko's position a little as if she'd kicked a foot out from under the covers and pulled her arm out from under the covers because she got too hot. I made a few more changes over a short period of time, Misheru noticed and started making changes too, she had one of her girls lean over and interact with Mariko, peeking under the covers and checking she was OK. Over the course of the day we probably changed their positions 20 or more times between us. In the end, Mariko first threw the covers off, and stretched, then she settled back down and pulled the covers back up, before curling up tightly again for more sleep.

It was only after we packed up and got home that I asked Misheru if she'd been reposing Mariko and the others. We laughed at our silliness, but it was a lot of fun. It was like a little photo story was developing as each change was made. Now we're home again, Mariko is standing barefoot on her plate in her chemise looking all tired and weary. I think she may have overslept and got a headache.

It's weekends like this when I realize how much fun it is to be a doll person, and how incredibly fortunate I am that my wife introduced me to the hobby, and that we can share in it together and play. I think that more couples should find common hobbies (doll collecting is definitely a good one) so that they have more things to share and talk about besides the monotony of the day.

Apart from the realization about how a shared hobby can bring you together with your partner, there were a couple of other take aways from the weekend.

My father in law probably thinks I'm even more strange than he originally thought - I wore a kilt to my wedding in the deep south, which raised sufficient questions as it was...

I have a great idea for a photo drama/story.

And, I have discovered that my Lady Mariko is insanely cute, and it's safe to say I've bonded with her....LOL!

Ah well, this is probably one of two places I can tell this story and have an audience that won't belittle me for it. Thanks for letting me share.

Altogether ladies . . . .

AWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

I can only wish my darling hubby would show an interest in any sort of bjd. He's not even interested in the 1/6 Obitsu dolls as potential D&D character molds. Ah well, he has his D&D, I have my dolliehs!

I blame K2...

But yes dear...it is fun. And Michiko is still in our bedroom trying to console Mariko and Miu cannot figure what the heck in going on. But then she does have that plushy Skiffy on her head..so that might explain a few things. :o :D

I did notice that my tiny Gretel nekomimi is even clinging to Mariko's leg now... hmmm, conspiracy? Drama queen? :P hahahahhahaha

The Lady Mariko is very delighted with the attentions of her friends and those that care. She comes from very old money in Japan, her family has ties way, way back into the dim and distant Imperial history of Japan. Of course, the money did run a little low in more recent years. Mariko is caught between her family's history and her current circumstance. She definitely does (as Scarlett would say) rely on the kindness of strangers (and friends).

Michiko would like to remind Mariko that *she* is a descendant from the "Empress" Michiko, so tread carefully Lady. Of course, Miu of Pure White Symphony peace and purity is asking everyone to simmer down.

Mariko simply wants her head to stop hurting, it's too stressful to argue with friends.

Sounds like someone had a great weekend.

I guess freaking out the in-laws is one of the perks of doll ownership. I would suppose having 60cm scale dolls (rather than fashion doll or action figure sized) serves to heighten the level of uncomfortableness for the unwilling victims.

It's really great that the two of you can share this hobby.

How sweet! Hubby isn't against my dolls. He makes them hats and bats and gives them toys and puts them together in naughty poses. Typical! But he doesn't 'play' with them, NEVER! Hahahaha.... yeah right. I love this hobby and I'm rather glad he doesn't play or he'd upset all my sets ALL the time. Once in a while is fine.

I can imagine your FIL watching the progression and movement and rubbing his eyes and thinking he's going mad. *grin* It's fun shocking the inlaws.
