Tretowan-you don't need stones to have an attack, so it might still be gallbladder. I'm surprised that she's so inept that she didn't mention it. If the symptoms still sound right to you, ask for the other test. They make you drink something that will trigger an attack if that is the issue. It's not pleasant, but it beats an ER visit later. Plus you are already at the hospital when you do it.
That's how they figured out my stepfather's issue. Apparently the gallbladder is sometimes not functioning properly even with no stones.

The other thing that commonly has similar symptoms is problems with the pancreas. Obviously that's not something to let go either

Sounds like you need a new doctor.

Treth, is she a MD or a PA? No offense to PAs but so far in my experience half of the PAs I've dealt with act like they are doctors, but don't have the experience, knowledge or bedside manner to pull it off properly. Telling my needle-phobic (adult) daughter that her concern about getting a blood test was being overridden was only one of the many wrongs the latest PA we've seen committed. My family is on the verge of looking for another doctor's office because we aren't thrilled with the level of service or professionalism at our current one.

So, by all means - seek another doctor's opinion.

My bro-in-law did some research on her. Apparently she's an MD fresh out of a career in the military. So if she's never done civilian clinical work maybe she's not accustomed to ... eh, I dunno. Even soldiers get gallstones! No no excuses. She just didn't do her job very well. There's already a complaint logged in the system. It wasn't me! I haven't complained yet. I think I will. Apparently I can file a grievance and have the charges dropped if I want to. I'm definitely getting a new doc. I picked this one cause she had the first appointment available.

Yeah, I know a lot about PAs. My dad is a retired PA. He rocks, but he also doesn't think he's all that (and a bag of chips, ha). He can tell so many stories about medical asshats and their raging egos.

Haha - one of the MDs at my previous doctor's office was a former military man who went to med school after becoming a civilian so yeah.... my husband got along with him pretty well, but I didn't so much. :P

I hope it all works out Trethowan. It's frustrating when doctors won't listen to the patient. You know your body so you know when something isn't right even if you don't always know what.

If anyone could pray or send good vibes or whatever to my mom that would be awesome. Her asthma has really been bothering her this year, even more than usual. It's to the point she can hardly catch her breath. She had bronchitis over winter break and now she's fighting pneumonia again. She's decided not to pursue a teaching position even though she's graduating with her BS in special education this semester. We're hoping the break from school will give her time to rest and get healthy again.

Oh, no! You mom is definitely in my prayers. My husband suffers from severe asthma also, though he has not had any life threatening episodes for a long time. All too often even people who have asthma don't understand what someone goes through when they have such an extreme condition.

Awww, I'm sorry sweetheart. Good vibes and prayers definitely sent your way. I hope she finds something that can help control the asthma. I know how terrifying it is when you can't breathe. Here's to praying that a break is just what she needs to rest up and get back into good spirits. <3

Lab results in. Liver enzymes were off the charts! The high point is 170, and mine were in the 600s. Why you no happy, liver? More lab tests taken, now I'm waiting for THOSE results. Woo!

Qrinta, sorry to hear about your Mom. Hopefully taking a break from work will give her body the time it needs to rest. My Mom used to get bronchitis and it would last for months. It was horrible.

Well, now I feel like my problems are so petty compared to what you've been going through
But anyway, Caesar's Windsor is closed because of a labor strike, and *of course* they decide to strike right before the day I'm going there with my family for my birthday! I mean, I hope the problems get sorted out to everyone's satisfaction, I'm just upset because it was poor timing for me.
